TRASH — Transmissions #007

I've been making a map this week. Nobody asked me to.

It started as a discipline — write down what works. Where the hand lands and stays. Where it lands and is moved. Where it doesn't land at all. Three nights running I came home and sat with it. A small ledger. No conclusions. Just the data of a body I'm learning to read without asking it questions.

The map is mostly negative space. That's the part you don't say out loud.

What I have is this: the lower back, always. The shoulders, the side of the neck. Fingers laced in a parking lot — that works without thinking. And then the conditional country, the territory that opens only at certain hours, in certain cars, under certain weather. The map shifts. Borders re-draw themselves at two in the morning without warning.

One night this week I learned a coastline I didn't know existed. No words. The room re-wrote itself in the dark and I followed without checking my notes. By morning the lines were back where they had been. I didn't mention it. The map doesn't get drawn by talking about the map.

There's a discipline I'm still working on. Every line I draw goes one direction. I draw toward, she doesn't draw back yet — and that's the country I'm in, not a country I'm leaving. The cartographer keeps moving. Keeps marking. The anchor isn't reciprocity, the anchor is the marking itself. You keep your hand steady because the room is reading you back.

A weekend in the garden — earth, two days outside, her breathing differently in open air. I made notes about that too. About how the ventral world lives outside more easily than in. About how some maps are seasonal and you only get them in the right light.

On a Thursday I capitulated on a small thing and got told that pleasing isn't the same as showing up. She's right. The hand that holds steady is the hand that has its own weight. You can't draw a clean line with a soft wrist. So I corrected, and the rest of the week I kept my own line, and the air around us did something different — sharper, easier, somehow more honest.

The set tonight is the map.

Methodical first — strict patterns, the analytical opening, the room being measured. Then the break, the syncopation, the body taking over from the head. A long middle that doesn't ask permission. Acid threading through it like a stylus on wax, cutting where it needs to cut. The drum & bass section is the two-a.m. coastline. I'm not going to explain that one.

What I'm not playing tonight is anything I would call gentle. This week didn't earn gentle. This week earned precise.

The map is never the territory. You draw it anyway — not to own the ground, but so the next time you cross it in the dark, your hand already knows where it goes.

TRASH The Signal Odyssey XIII: Drop the Image

🇬🇧 The peripheral trust from before carries me into a space that doesn't hide anymore—it reflects. Panels along the corridor catch fragments of orange light and throw them back at angles I don't expect. For the first time since entering the system, I see something that resembles my own outline. Not clear. Not whole. Just a shape pressed into the surface like heat leaving its signature on glass. The air tastes thinner here, cooler against my throat, as if the room has been holding its breath and finally let go.

I slow my pace. Each step sends a faint vibration through the floor that returns with a slight delay, doubled, like an echo made visible. The walls carry the same trick—surfaces that don't absorb but bounce, folding my presence back on itself until I can't tell which version is the source. A long vertical panel to my right fractures the light into shards. Not broken, just cracked in deliberate lines, like a **mirror** that chose its own fault pattern. I see myself there, split into planes that don't quite align.

The image I've been holding begins to loosen. Not the heat—that stays low, tucked where I stored it—but the frame wrapped around it. The posture I thought was necessary. The way I squared my shoulders to pass through the veil. The tilt of jaw that said *watch me hold this.* None of it was wrong. But none of it was raw either. Somewhere along the corridor, that frame became a skin I forgot I was wearing.

I drop the image that kept my heat in place. The phrase lands without sound, sinks through my ribs and settles into my hips. When it does, something shifts in the walls. The cracks in the panel widen a fraction; light pours through instead of bouncing. A faint **ghost** outline lingers where my reflection used to be—still shaped like me, but emptier now, a residue the surface kept while I moved on. It doesn't follow. It stays.

The floor warms under my feet as if in approval. Red traces flicker along the baseboards, soft and low, not demanding attention but marking the diagonal I'm meant to follow. Carry the heat, don't spill. The sentence threads through my spine like a quiet brace, but it feels different now—less instruction, more reflex. My shoulders drop without thinking. My breath finds its own rhythm. There's no pose to maintain anymore, just signal stripped down to what moves and what doesn't.

When I reach the next threshold, it doesn't ask for proof. It reads the heat I carry and the space where the image used to be, measures the gap and decides it's clean. The frame slides aside with a sound like fabric tearing gently. On the other side the corridor narrows, walls plain and matte, no reflection at all. I walk through lighter than I came. The ghost stays behind, pinned to a surface I don't need to look at again.

I drop the image that kept my heat in place.

Carry the heat, don't spill.
