How to make soft but crunchy chin chin.
Ingredients:
5 cups hard flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk powder
1 teaspoon nutmeg
Half cup margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
Halft cup cold water
Oil for frying
Procedure:
Prepare the dough
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and nutmeg. Add the butter and rub it into the flour until crumbly. If using an egg, mix it in.
Form the dough
Gradually add the milk or water while kneading until a smooth, non-sticky dough forms. Let it rest for 10–15 minutes.
Cut into shapes
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness. Cut into small squares, rectangles, or strips using a knife or pizza cutter.
Fry until golden
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the chin chin in batches, stirring occasionally, until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Cool and store
Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container. Enjoy as a crunchy snack.
