DAY 7 —THE STAFF AND THE PEOPLE BEHIND SHINE.

Over the years, I have had different people come through Shine Party House.

Some stayed for years, some for seasons, and some came, did their part and moved on.

I have trained.
I have been taught.
I have corrected.
I have been corrected.
I have laughed, gotten frustrated, learnt and grown with people.

To every staff member, past and present, who has contributed one way or another to the Shine journey.

DAY 5— THE MAN BEHIND THE JOURNEY.❤️

For the umpteenth time, I’ll always say, I married a man who will step out so I can step in.

A man who will push me forward, step back to clap for me.

A man who would rather increase my wings, give me his own and be proud that I’m flying.

At the beginning, I would go to the market, buy goods, sell them, but somehow couldn’t account properly for the profits. 😂

And my husband would say, “Don’t worry, Let’s try again.”

I remember my breastfeeding days.
My husband would book a flight for my nanny to join me in Lagos with my baby, just so I could be comfortable enough to shop and do what I needed to do.

Then came the day he looked at me and said:
“Honey, it’s time you go global.
You need to go to China for a one-on-one interaction with the manufacturers.”

And just like that… an all-expense-paid trip to China.
Ha!

I won’t forget the times I had overnight jobs.
My husband would come over to stay with me.
Sometimes, he would literally sleep in the car while waiting for me to finish.

And I would be begging him:
“Please go home. I’m fine!” 😂
What manner of man?

And then, there is my building.
Shine Party House.

A dream that became walls, rooms, spaces, colour, lights and a physical representation of everything I had imagined.

In his words:
“Honey, you don’t need to come to the site.
Just tell us what you want and it’ll be done.”
Thank you my lord for:

The money.
The sacrifices.
The investments.
The encouragement.
The reassurance.
The opportunities.
The flights.
The logistics.
The times you believed when I was still figuring things out.
The times you made things easier for me.
The times you gave so I could build.
The times you pushed me when I needed pushing.
The times you stepped back so I could shine.
The countless “go for it” moments.
The times you made room for my dreams.
The times you made my load lighter.
The times you stood behind me.
The times you stood beside me.
And the many times you stood in front of me to make sure I was protected.

DAY 4 — THE JOURNEY SO FAR…🎈

I have cried.
I have unlearned.
I have relearned.
I have had sleepless nights.

This journey has not been without its challenges, but we’ll delve into all of that soon.

For today, we’re looking back at the journey so far,
the remarkable growth, the wins, the beautiful moments and most definitely, the work.

From the little setups to the bigger and more elaborate productions we do today, the journey has been one of growth, creativity and consistency.

We are SHINE PARTY HOUSE, and balloon decoration is our distinctive signature. 🎈

DAY 2 — THE JOURNEY…🥹

We started by selling small party items,
things you could buy for ₦10, ₦50, ₦100 and the likes.

But along the line people started pressurizing us for balloon decorations and party set ups.

Truthfully, I was afraid, so I mostly declined🙈

Cause I know how vast the decoration industry is, and I didn’t think I was ready for it.

This fateful day, a customer dramatically insisted that I setup a PJ Masks theme party for her son’s 1st birthday.🙆‍♀️

That was my very first attempt at balloon decoration.

And from that one party… the story changed.

These pictures 👇 are a little glimpse of where we started, how much we’ve grown, and the many beautiful stages in between.

The list of the journey is endless…

But today, I’m looking back and saying:

GOD, YOU HAVE BEEN FAITHFUL! 🙏🏽

DAY 1 — HOW IT ALL STARTED… 🥹

Almost 10 years ago, while I was pregnant with my daughter, Shine, I birthed another baby, my business.

I called it SHINE KIDDIES AND GIFT MALL, and registered it as an enterprise.

But let me tell you something…

It was REALLY, REALLY small.

I started out selling in Akpan Andem Market.
From there, I moved into a little store at Udo Umana Traffic Light.

Those early days were not glamorous at all.

I can still remember travelling to Ariaria Market in Aba, Abia State, to shop for goods.
The stress of travelling, buying, bringing them back, selling and starting all over again…

I suffered oooo! 😩
But it was hustle…

I learnt,
I made mistakes,
I started again,
And I kept going.

I didn’t know then what this little business would become.

I only knew I had started something… and I was determined to see where it would take me.

SEE US NOW!

From that little store to this… from the woman who was simply trying to make a living to a business that is now 10 YEARS IN BUSINESS…

Only God could have done this. 🙏

And this is just Day 1.

For the next 10 days, I’ll be taking you through little pieces of my SHINE story,
the beginning, the struggles, the lessons, the wins, the people, the moments and everything in between.
