You're a very local man ... 🤢
Ever been called “local” and felt offended? 🤔
Let's pause and ask:
Why do we react negatively when the word "local" is used to refer to us or anything associated with us?
There is actually nothing wrong in calling someone or something local.
"Local" refers to something that belongs to or is characteristic of a particular place, area, or community. It means something native, homegrown, or specific to a region — and that’s not a bad thing!
Examples:
"This fabric is locally made.
"I love supporting local businesses.
"Our local dishes are the best!
So instead of seeing "local" as an insult, see it as a badge of identity, uniqueness, and cultural pride.
Hope you've learned something today. You can take it a step further by sharing so others can also learn.
See you in our next class!
