A DAY AFTER THE FIRE INCIDENT AT GREAT NIGERIAN INSURANCE HOUSE…
On my way to a friend’s place, I suddenly met a blocked street.
I honestly thought “Oh, maybe there’s another carnival.” 🎉
To my shock…
🚧 The road was blocked because someone decided to use the street to mix concrete for his building.
I stood there, confused and sad.
Looking at the building under construction and the road it had taken over, I made a few calls to ask questions.
Then someone said:
“Ola, what is your own in this?” 🥺
Hmm… this is exactly why many disasters happen.
At this level, some people still don’t understand WHY BUILDING SETBACKS MATTER.
The common excuse?
👉 “After all, I bought and own the land.”
But owning land doesn’t mean endangering lives or public space.
