Many of today’s conversations around Fuji artistes often lack historical understanding, especially among younger fans and bloggers who may not be aware of how far the genre has come or who paved the way for others.

Though I’m not deeply involved in Fuji music, I’ve always admired good lyrics and creative depth. Growing up around Lagos Island and other parts of Lagos exposed me to several Fuji legends and their stories — long before my university days at OAU, where I studied History.

The ongoing discussion surrounding Taiye Currency and Tope Nautical has stirred plenty of reactions online. However, what most people don’t realize is that Tope Nautical has been active in the Fuji industry long before Taiye Currency rose to prominence. Tope released his first album as far back as 1998, while Taiye’s early recognition came around 2000. Back then, when artistes like Shanko and Container had already dropped their studio projects, Taiye Currency was still mainly known in Ibadan as a local performer.

Now, some of Taiye’s fans and bloggers often try to defend him with his wealth or social status — but that’s not the same as seniority or contribution in the Fuji industry. Even beyond music, there are reports about Taiye Currency’s family matters, including how his late father’s house wasn’t renovated until his brother, Komi Jackson, intervened, and how the mother of his honorable son has reportedly been seen struggling around Ibadan.

These details are not to mock anyone, but to remind fans that wealth doesn’t define legacy or seniority in music. When we discuss Fuji history, we should focus on artistry, consistency, and contribution, not money or popularity.

The truth remains — Tope Nautical, by record and timeline, is not Taiye Currency’s mate in the industry. Even artistes like Shanko and Container came before Taiye in terms of studio records.

At the end of the day, both artistes have achieved a lot in their own rights, and there’s no need for unnecessary rivalry. The Fuji industry thrives better when there’s mutual respect among artistes, bloggers, and fans.

Let everyone enjoy themselves and let the Fuji industry remain at peace. There’s enough room for every talent to shine — past, present, and future. 🎶✌️💪🙏✅❤️

Hello my people,

As you all know, this page was built on truth and sincerity. Anything that will destroy that foundation — please count me out. Our mission is simple: Unity, Peace, and full protection of our main man’s legacy.

Recently, during the interview between KS1 Malaika and actress Wasila Coded, the issue of Malaika’s burnt instruments came up again — that painful Mazamaza, Lagos incident around 1999/2000.

But to my greatest surprise, many Gen-Z fans are still linking that tragedy to King Saheed Osupa (KSO).

Let me say this loud and clear: Osupa had absolutely nothing to do with that incident.

Let’s go back to the real story…

Around 2005, I was at Safejo Bus Stop, Osuolale Sound Studio, when this same topic came up among fans. A man — a true die-hard fan of KSO and an eyewitness — gave us the full story that day. And today, I must repeat what he said so that truth can finally rest.

According to him, the whole issue began with a man named Adeyemi Adesanya, popularly known as Bobo No Go Die, a close friend and helper of Malaika. When Malaika traveled to the U.S., Bobo No Go Die helped him in many ways, and their bond grew strong.

Later, when Malaika returned to Nigeria, he paid him a friendly visit at his home in Crystal Estate, Mile 2, in the company of some Lagos Island boys. Unfortunately, those boys later returned to rob Bobo No Go Die — carting away valuables including a very expensive wristwatch.

Days or weeks later, when Malaika came to perform at a show in Mazamaza, which was the same area as Crystal Estate, the man OPC security men — saw that same wristwatch on Malaika’s wrist.

They confronted him about it, asking how he got the watch, since it was believed to have been stolen from their master.

What started as a confrontation soon turned into a heated argument. And in the confusion, one of Malaika’s SAS police escorts allegedly fired a shot that killed a young boy in the neighborhood.

That tragic death angered the entire community. In retaliation, the crowd attacked and set Malaika’s musical instruments ablaze.

That was the full story — not Osupa, not any rival, not industry beef — just a chain of unfortunate events. Please we should stop spreading rumors just to tag Osupa as evil person.

And those who knew about that era according to him are — Gani Ajiboshin, Saheed Opere, Ora Saheed, Quwam at Oluwole Passport Office — can testify to these facts.

Even though I was young back then, I had always followed Osupa passionately — not because I want him to know me personally, coz that has never been my intention, but because I love his truth, his intellect, and the message in his music.

I’m not here to insult anyone, but the truth must be told.
Let’s stop rewriting history to please biases. Osupa had no connection whatsoever to that Mazamaza tragedy.

Sir Mala might choose to revisit the past, which I think is not necessary anymore for peace to reign. But when people especially the fans and the haters tried to twist the narrative to paint another man’s black, silence becomes guilt — and we will never stay silent in the face of falsehood.

Let’s all enjoy our favorite artistes peacefully. No one is dragging another’s greatness, but truth must not die because of fan bias.

To those who knew the whole story as mentioned above like — Gani Ajiboshin, Saheed Opere, Ora Saheed, Quwam — the indomie generation needs your voices to confirm this once and for all.

Because no matter how long lies travel, Truth will always catch up. 💯
