Muslim Group Urges Aiyedatiwa to Ensure Fair Representation in 1,000 Aides Appointment

By Adewale Omo Olubo I All Day TV News

A concerned stakeholder in Ondo State, Chief Adanlawo Taofeeq Olabode, has formally appealed to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to ensure fair inclusion of Muslims in key government appointments, particularly in the anticipated selection of 1,000 aides.

In a letter addressed to the governor and made available to journalists, Chief Adanlawo, who serves as the State Treasurer of NACOMYO, called for balanced representation in strategic positions such as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Senior Special Assistants (SSA), and Special Assistants (SA).

While commending Governor Aiyedatiwa for his leadership and commitment to the unity and development of Ondo State, the community leader emphasized the need for inclusiveness in governance.

“Your administration has demonstrated commitment to inclusive governance, which gives hope to all segments of the population,” the letter read.

Chief Adanlawo noted that the Muslim community remains a significant part of Ondo State’s population, contributing meaningfully to its socio-economic and political growth. However, he stressed that there is a need for improved representation in key government positions to reflect the state’s diversity.

“I humbly wish to appeal for the fair consideration and inclusion of qualified Muslims in the position of Secretary to the State Government, as well as in the appointment of Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants in the forthcoming 1,000 aides positions,” he stated.

He further explained that the appeal was not based solely on religious sentiment but anchored on merit, highlighting the availability of competent and experienced individuals within the Muslim community who can effectively serve the state.

“There are many qualified, experienced, and capable Muslims who can contribute meaningfully to governance in Ondo State,” he added.

The appeal also underscored the importance of equity and fairness in fostering unity, peace, and a sense of belonging among all citizens, noting that inclusive appointments would strengthen the administration’s effectiveness.

Chief Adanlawo expressed confidence in Governor Aiyedatiwa’s sense of justice, urging him to give the request due consideration in the interest of sustainable development.

The letter concluded with prayers for wisdom, strength, and good health for the governor as he continues to steer the affairs of Ondo State.

The development comes amid growing expectations ahead of the governor’s planned appointment of 1,000 aides, a move widely seen as part of efforts to enhance governance and service delivery across the state.

Alaafin Breaks Silence, Denies Rift with Makinde, Olubadan

By Adewale Omo Olubo I All Day TV News

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has dismissed speculations of a rift between him and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, as well as the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, describing his relationship with both leaders as cordial and respectful.

Speaking with journalists on Tuesday at his private residence in Boroboro, Oyo town, the monarch stated that there was no misunderstanding whatsoever between him and Governor Makinde, stressing that any issue, if it ever arises, would be handled privately.

“I have nothing against the government. The governor has been very nice. If there is anything, I will meet him one-on-one and we will talk about it,” he said.

Oba Owoade explained that his recent absence from state functions was due to ill health, assuring that he would resume public engagements as soon as he fully recovers.

“There is no form of misunderstanding anyway. I have a good relationship with my governor. I have been indisposed for some time now,” he added.

Addressing rumours of strained ties with the Olubadan, the Alaafin firmly debunked the claims, attributing the narrative to misinformation often spread by bloggers.

“My relationship with the Olubadan is cordial. Some people use online bloggers to join the popular bandwagon. There is no misunderstanding,” he said.

He recounted a recent incident that fueled speculation, clarifying that it was a simple misunderstanding.

“I extended my hand to him, but he later explained that he did not see it. I don’t see it as an offence. After that, he called me, and we later met again at A*o Rock during an iftar.”

The monarch emphasised that both traditional rulers maintain mutual respect and have even spoken directly to dispel any doubts.

“There is no issue whatsoever between us. We have mutual respect for each other,” he affirmed.

Oba Owoade also noted that false narratives often stem from heightened public interest in the throne.

“People peddling rumours about me do so because of the throne. Bloggers create problems where there are none. It is part of the job.”

Reiterating his commitment to peace and unity, the Alaafin said he harbours no grievances against any individual or institution.

“I have nothing against anybody,” he declared.

The monarch, who marked nearly one year on the throne, highlighted key developmental strides in Oyo, including the establishment of a land dispute committee which has handled over 200 cases.

He revealed that construction of a community health centre valued at about ₦800 million is ongoing and expected to be commissioned in July. Plans are also underway for a civic centre, alongside renovation works at the palace to preserve its cultural heritage.

Looking ahead, Oba Owoade announced preparations for his birthday on July 18, during which distinguished individuals would be honoured with chieftaincy titles.

He concluded by appreciating the media for its support, describing journalists as partners in progress, and urged the public to disregard unfounded rumours while supporting traditional institutions.

HISTORIC FIRST: Sanwo-Olu Installs Alara of Ilara as LASU’s 6th Chancellor

By Adewale Omo Olubo | All Day TV News

LAGOS — In a landmark development for higher education in Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has formally sworn in the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, HRM Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, as the 6th Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), marking the first time a traditional ruler will occupy the prestigious position.

The historic investiture ceremony, held on Tuesday, April 7, at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Alausa, Ikeja, drew an array of dignitaries, including members of the university’s Governing Council, top management officials, and prominent traditional rulers across the state.

Oba Ogunsanwo succeeds renowned legal luminary, Prof. Gbolahan Elias (SAN), whose tenure recently came to an end. His appointment, in line with the Lagos State University Law of 2004 (as amended), is for an initial term of five years, renewable for a final term of equal duration.

A Historic Shift in LASU’s Leadership Tradition

Describing the appointment as both “deliberate and historic,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said the decision reflects a strategic blend of cultural heritage and modern governance ideals.

“This is the first time since LASU’s establishment that a traditional ruler is entrusted with the office of Chancellor,” the governor stated. “It underscores our belief in the enduring relevance of traditional institutions in governance, social cohesion, and moral leadership.”

He noted that Oba Ogunsanwo’s emergence symbolizes a vital alignment between tradition and modernity—an approach he said is critical to achieving sustainable development in the education sector and beyond.

‘A Moral Compass for the University’

Highlighting the significance of the role, Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the office of Chancellor goes beyond ceremonial duties, describing it as a symbol of continuity, dignity, and institutional values.

“The Chancellor serves as a moral compass, a custodian of tradition, and an ambassador of the university’s ideals,” he said, urging the monarch to foster unity among stakeholders and uphold LASU’s reputation for academic excellence.

The governor further charged the new Chancellor to support the university’s mission of producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also ethically grounded and socially responsible.

Strengthening LASU’s Global Relevance

Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening LASU as a hub for innovative, policy-driven research capable of addressing contemporary societal challenges.

“This investiture marks the beginning of a new chapter—one we are confident will usher in stability, growth, and renewed prestige for LASU,” he added.

‘Fusion of Heritage and Knowledge’ — Commissioner

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule, described the appointment as “a fusion of intellect, heritage, and higher learning.”

According to him, Oba Ogunsanwo’s vast administrative experience, including his tenure as Chairman of the Lagos State Inland Revenue Service (LIRS), positions him to attract strategic partnerships and elevate LASU’s standing in the global academic community.

Expectations High as Monarch Takes Helm

With expectations running high, stakeholders believe the new Chancellor’s unique blend of traditional authority and public sector experience will strengthen institutional governance and deepen community engagement.

Oba Ogunsanwo’s appointment is widely seen as a bold step toward integrating indigenous leadership structures into modern educational administration—an approach many observers say could redefine university governance models in Nigeria.

As LASU embarks on this new phase, attention now turns to how the royal father will leverage his office to advance the university’s vision in an increasingly competitive global education landscape.

Aiyedatiwas Resets Governance, Relieves All SSAs and SAs of Duties

By Adewale Omo Olubo | All Day TV News

AKURE — In a sweeping administrative overhaul aimed at repositioning governance for improved performance, the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has relieved all political aides in his administration of their duties with immediate effect.

The directive affects all categories of political appointees, including Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) serving across various ministries, departments, and agencies in the state.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, who noted that the decision is part of a broader reform agenda targeted at enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening service delivery mechanisms within government.

According to the statement, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his deep appreciation to the affected aides for their dedication and contributions to the growth and development of Ondo State during their time in office.

“The Governor appreciates the invaluable services rendered by the affected aides and wishes them success in their future endeavours,” the statement read.

Sources within the government indicate that the move is not merely a routine dissolution but a calculated political and administrative reset designed to inject fresh energy, ideas, and accountability into the system.

The decision signals the governor’s intention to streamline governance structures, eliminate redundancies, and align his administration more closely with its developmental priorities.

In what appears to be one of the largest grassroots political engagements in the state’s recent history, the government disclosed plans to appoint about 1,000 new aides in the coming weeks.

These appointments will be drawn from the 203 wards across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State, a move widely seen as an effort to deepen grassroots participation and strengthen political coordination at the community level.

The new aides are expected to serve as direct links between the government and the people, ensuring better feedback channels, improved policy implementation, and enhanced monitoring of government projects.

Political analysts suggest that the development could have far-reaching implications within the state’s political landscape, as it opens the door for new entrants, loyalists, and technocrats to join the administration.

It also underscores Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to building a more inclusive and performance-driven government, especially at a time when citizens are demanding greater accountability and tangible results.

While the timeline for the new appointments has not been fully disclosed, insiders hint that the selection process will prioritize competence, grassroots influence, and capacity to deliver.

Observers say the success of this bold move will largely depend on how effectively the incoming aides are integrated and managed to achieve the administration’s development goals.

Extend Tinubu’s Tenure If Reforms Deliver — Oluwo Sparks National Debate

By Adewale Omo Olubo | All Day TV News

IWOLAND, OSUN STATE — The Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as bold and transformative economic reforms, while hinting that Nigerians may eventually call for a constitutional amendment to allow the President remain in office beyond the current two-term limit.

In a statement issued to mark President Tinubu’s 74th birthday, the monarch lauded the administration’s sweeping policy decisions, noting that they have begun to lay a solid foundation for economic recovery and long-term national growth.

Oba Akanbi specifically highlighted improvements in Nigeria’s foreign reserves, the unification of the exchange rate system, and increased oil production as key indicators of progress under Tinubu’s leadership. According to him, these measures are gradually stabilizing the economy and restoring investor confidence.

The Oluwo further noted that the ripple effects of the reforms are being felt across various levels of governance. He pointed to increased federal allocations to state governments, ongoing progress toward local government autonomy, expansion of critical road infrastructure, and the distribution of palliatives to cushion the impact of economic adjustments on citizens.

Describing the reforms as “bold, courageous, and necessary,” the monarch emphasized that previous administrations had shied away from implementing such far-reaching policies due to fear of public backlash and political resistance.

“President Tinubu has demonstrated uncommon courage by taking difficult but necessary decisions for the future of Nigeria. His willingness to stay the course, despite initial challenges, distinguishes him as a leader committed to genuine transformation,” he stated.

However, the royal father stirred national conversation by suggesting that the success of these reforms could lead to public demand for an extension of Tinubu’s tenure beyond the constitutionally stipulated two terms.

According to Oba Akanbi, if the current trajectory of economic and structural reforms continues to yield positive results, Nigerians may be compelled to seek a constitutional review that would allow the President to remain in office longer in order to fully consolidate the gains.

The monarch maintained that while the reforms are still unfolding, early signs point toward improved economic stability and a more promising national outlook. He expressed optimism that the next phase of the administration’s agenda would deepen these achievements and further reposition Nigeria on the path of sustainable development.

Oba Akanbi concluded by urging Nigerians to remain patient and supportive of the government, stressing that nation-building is a collective responsibility that requires sacrifice, resilience, and sustained commitment from both leaders and citizens.

“True progress demands endurance. The sacrifices made today will shape a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria for generations to come,” he added.
