When you eat rice, you don't need to hold seminars, conferences, prayer summits, meetings, etc. before it digests provided that the digestive SYSTEM is working properly.
At this crucial time in our dear nation, Nigeria! We need creative young minds who can X-Ray the problem of Nigeria beyond Agenda, beyond events and projects, beyond programs and assess our SYSTEMS, their coherent, structures, rules of litigation, and of course subsystems.
As a Nigerian youth what comes to your mind whenever you hear the word Abacha's loots ? What that technically means is that suppose to be your lot in twenty years time, some people have eaten it twenty years ago.
Now, the failure of our religious institutions is that we are so carried away with events, programs, and projects, whereas God is much more concerned about us building systems, creating models that will outlive us. That's exactly what Christ came to do. Or what do you think He's talking about in Amos 5:21-27? Or what do you think happened to all the religious festivals this year? Don't get me wrong, likewise don't quote me wrongly.
Events are good! Conferences are wonderful! Projects are awesome! But all these don't strike any chords in true nation's building, instead they just make the gentiles to mock our institutions. This is evident in the way men of God are mocked , persecuted, and trivialised lately. While the people doing it are wrong, it doesn't still remove the fact that much is given to us and so much more is expected.
The last hope for this nation is the Church! I mean the Church, and not anything else that looks like it. Not just the gathering of saints as it were, not just the building, not just the events of Sunday and midweek services, but a force called the Church, the one Christ says Himself says he will build and the gate of hell shall not prevail.
So how do we build systems? We build systems simply by building the people. How do we build the people? We build people by making disciples of them.( Note: not make them your disciples but make disciples of them) How do we make disciples of them? By simply commending them to the word of His grace which is able to build them. And what does it mean to commend after the order of Act 20:32? It means to commit or to intrust. So are you thinking what I'm thinking? Or doesn't that sound like intercession to you? Yes it is! Revival don't just happen because we're telling people about God, which is the office assignment of a prophet, but when we also tell God about the people which is the office assignment of a priest.
When we pray, we build! (Jude 1:20) when you pray for others you build others, now imagine what happens when you pray for a nation. This is why the first request in the Lord's prayer is 'thy kingdom come' and not 'give us this day our daily bread' If you're observant, you will notice that we practically don't have systems in Nigeria, what we rather have are sectors (educational, agricultural, legal, etc), so since we don't have systems at all, governance becomes more tedious than it suppose to be. Or have you not noticed that no matter how intelligent a man is the moment he steps into governance at any level he seemingly becomes clueless? That's one of many manifestations of lack of systems.
So Paul in his letter to Timothy admonished him to "Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity."(1 Tim 2:2 What kind of prayers ? "... Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them." (1 Tim 2:2) This is one of you major civic responsibilities. So if you're not doing that, you're one of the causes of our problems in this this country! Do have a wonderful week ahead!
