Banned: England FA bans transgenders from women football.
On Thursday, the football association of England acted on the ruling of the United Kingdom Supreme Court, which ruled earlier in the month that gender is only characterised by biology, not identity.
The court ruling confirms that only those born as women from birth can only be regarded as females. Thereby banning the social concept of gender by identity or fluidity.
The ruling meant that non-biological 'women' were no longer eligible to participate in women only activities in the UK.
The FA, in its confirmation of the decision to effect the Supreme Court ruling, released the following statement.
"This is a complex subject, and our position has always been that if there was a material change in law, science, or the operation of the policy in grassroots football then we would review it and change it if necessary," the FA said.
"We understand that this will be difficult for people who simply want to play the game they love in the gender by which they identify, and we are contacting the registered transgender women currently playing to explain the changes and how they can continue to stay involved in the game.
Other sports associations and authorities are expected to implement the ruling in the coming days.
