New and aspiring bakers, if you don't have a ¾ measuring cup, you can measure ¾ cup using other measuring cups or spoons you have.

Here are a few methods:

1. Use three ¼ cups to equal ¾ cup (3 x ¼ = ¾).

2. Fill a ½ cup and then add ¼ cup (½ + ¼ = ¾).

3. There are 16 tablespoons in a cup, so ¾ cup is 12 tablespoons (¾ x 16 = 12).

Any of these methods will give you the correct amount of ¾ cup.

I hope this helps.

14 SECRETS OF GOOD BAKING

To achieve a light, fluffy, and good consistency cake, some measures are to be put in place.

Some of these measures are listed below⬇️⬇️⬇️

1. Use eggs at room Temperature.

2. Sift flour from a fair height to give it a chance to aerate and lighten.

3. Know and understand your oven.

4. Place cake in the center of the oven where the heating is uniform.

5. Good quality cake tins conduct heat effectively.

6. Read through the recipe before starting.

7. Assemble all ingredients and equipment.

8. Prepare baking tins by lightly oiling the pan and dusting it with flour.

9. Preheat the oven before putting the cake.

10. Avoid opening the oven until the timing is about 2/3. A drop in temperature may result in a cake sunk.

Wait till you perceive that the cake smells baked. If using electricity oven, ensure there is standby e.g. gas oven in cases of power failure.

12. Moving cakes during baking may cause a collapse.

13. The bowl used in beating the eggs must be free from oil for it to foam.

14. To check the cake when it starts smelling, open the oven gently and put a knife or toothpick in the center of the cake.

If it comes out sticky then it is not perfectly baked but if it comes out dry, give it about 5minutes more and gently tooth the surface of the cake with your finger to confirm that it is completely dry-if it is, then your cake is ready.

Remember to:

1. Go through the entire recipe slowly. Baking is about precision.

You don't want to leave out anything. Going through the recipe makes you not overlook anything accidentally.

That way, ingredients and tools, are well organised and you get familiar with the recipe before starting the process.

2. The most important choice of butter a baker can choose is unsalted butter..

10 BAKING HACKS AND TIPS

▶️If you do not have a piping bag, you can use a ziplock bag and cut off the corner.

▶️Before cutting your dough, dip cookie cutters into flour to prevent sticking.

▶️Use an ice cream scoop to scoop cookie dough or cake batter for equal amounts/sizes.

▶️If you’re looking for the most even frosting, use an offset spatula and warm it up by dipping it in hot water and then drying it off as quickly as possible.

▶️Fill a piping bag easier by folding it over a cup and filling the cup.

▶️If you’re out of powdered sugar, you can blend granulated sugar at high speed and it will turn it into powdered sugar.

▶️Line baking sheets and pans with parchment paper for easier release and clean-up.

▶️Wet your finger to remove an eggshell. It will stick to your finger.

▶️Coat chocolate chips and fruits with flour before putting them into a batter to ensure that they don’t sink to the bottom.

▶️Sift all dry ingredients. It makes a fluffier and lighter batter

𝐃𝐈𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐎𝐈𝐋 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐁𝐔𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐈𝐍 𝐁𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆

✨ I always thought, both of them serves the same purpose and can be substituted for each other

✨ I finally figured out that oil and butter acts differently in cakes.

𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲.

𝗢𝗶𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗮 𝗼𝗶𝗹, 𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗶𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗶𝗹, 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗶𝗹.

𝐎𝐈𝐋 𝐂𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐒:
1) Are much more moist and fluffy.
2) Tends to be a lot like a cake made using a cake mix.
3) Tends to bake up loftier with a more even crum and stay moist and tender longer
4) Don’t solidify when they cool
If you are a beginner I would really suggest you to go with a cake recipe that uses oil.

𝐁𝐔𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐒:
1) Butter cakes are comparatively denser with a tight crumb.
2) A cake made using butter hardens up when refrigerated, similar to how butter hardens up in the fridge. ( You will need to bring it to room temperature before serving)
3) Butter adds a lot of rich flavors to a cake
4) The presence of water in butter is great for helping cake rise.

Nevertheless, both butter and oil makes tasty cakes! 😁
