MY RESPONSE TO COMPLAINT FROM A CONCERNED BRIDE ASKING WHY SHE SHOULD PAY AN EVENT PLANNER "JUST TO COORDINATE HER WEDDING".
I am an event planner and I must let you know that what you pay for is not just to coordinate (in your words). You are paying for the expertise to resolve unforeseen issues, capacity to infuse creativity that a lame man can't offer you, practical efforts and energy to make things happen for you when you are not there, a whole team of event planner's dedicated staff, years of professional experience among other vitals.
Your event planner is not just an individual. He or she is a whole institution who have built system great enough to get things done without hassles. You don't want to mess your event up by settling for cheap over prioritising your event's overall success. The part about not knowing how the event will look like shouldn't even come up if you work with a professional. Your planner should give a mood board, issue you a contract that clearly state the offers and conditions of services for the event. All these allays your fears and builds the much needed trust.
Your planner is your event brain box.
You must learn to trust his or her judgement and value the time invested on your project beyond the money which in itself is just a token reflection of an exchange of values you get.
Don't join the "my sister in-law will take care of it. She is good in organisation" gang, all because of the planner's fee you don't want to pay. Yet, your heart secretly desire a well coordinated, meal saturated and premium event.
You don't want to spoil your day by embracing quackry over professionalism because one appears to save you immediate cost but could make you cry if things go sour when the chips are down. Then, you might just realise you are spending much more just to ensure damage control.
It's often a one penny wise and ten pounds foolish experience to settle for such choices.
Settle the reality that what is worth doing at all is worth doing well.
Don't conclude that hiring us Event planners makes you spend more. Many times, the opposite is the case. You get to save cost on vendors and get the best of services because you are being guided by one who knows the rope. That itself is your best belt to cut cost unlike many erroneously believing that hiring a planner hypes their event budget.
We are passionate about your project getting the best of success.
Cheers !
