Still on World Book Day, how do you like your literature served? 😃

Some people who shall remain nameless must have the physical book in their hands, turn pages, I'm sure they smell the new pages when no-one is looking😂. For them, the physical book is part of the ritual. They don't mind that half the weight of their suitcase is books🙄.

My body used to shake like that for magazines. 😍😍😍 The glossiness, the weight, the promise of opulence, beauty, luxury, gist (pick your poison) would get me in a tizzy🙈.

But I like my books to look brand new. And I read my books to death. And I am not the most careful person with them either. I read when I 'm eating so food stains. I read in bed and fall asleep on top of whatever I am reading so bend bend 😑.

I have solved the matter forever by joining team ebook o. 😁 My books are forever new, weigh next to nothing and I can take the whole lot everywhere. 🥳 How cool is that?! 😃

I ask the question because it's World Book Day Happy people theme this year is making reading fun for children.

I know adulting is hard, but if your reading these days is only to get to where the money resides (online course junkies like me are on this table🙈), then your little humans will likely grow up associating reading with school and drudgery. 🤓📚

I'm sure you want your children to also experience the high of immersing themselves in magical lands and situations. You want their imaginations fired up in a way that passive entertainment from TV snd cable shows cannot do. You want them to be eternally curious.

So again I ask, when last did you read for fun? 🙂

Back in the day Baby would have 3 outfit changes at their party one of which would be native complete with gele🤦. Not to talk of the often uncomfortable suits and princess dresses.

Needless to say, I used to have celebrants who were either really cranky or asleep🤣.

There's one I will never forget. She had braids and like 4 outfit changes. She. Cried. In. Every. Photo. And for the entire photo.

Mama didn't like that but babies crying on their birthday was an accepted standard at the time (the year was 2005).

Thank God we know better and do better now😁.

Hey mama😃. I know feeding children isn't a challenge per se (it's the one thing we do instinctively 😃). There are a few things I've observed over the years:

* Younger children want familiar, uncomplicated food. Rice not too spicy and without veggies, pizza with little or no toppings. In fact make that most children.

* Foods that can be eaten on the go (chips and snacks) will always be a hit.

*Always have jollof rice on hand. Older children especially boys wolf down the cute fast food packs and STILL come back for rice. (why won't they be taller than us?! 😜)

* The sweet squad will keep everyone's energy levels up💃

* Hands up 👐 if your child has told you on the way home that they "did not eat anything in the party". The same party where food was overflowing. 🤪 What tends to happen is that they're too distracted by play and sometimes full to eat at the assigned lunch time and now that everything is winding down/over they realise they are hungry😂.

* Because of the culture, please remember to give express permission to children to help themselves sweet treats and such that are on display to avoid hastily doing giveaway with them at the end of the party.

*And while we're at it remember to cut and serve the cake. I have seen too many lonely, uncut cakes abandoned after picture taken. Put someone in charge of that duty.

* Adults will embarrass you and be asking for the children's food, telling you they are also someone's children🤣🤣.

Let's give it up for the "aunty give me cake" dress🙌😄. That dress officially made you the star! Who else was annoyed when they had to go and change in the heat of all the fun?! And some people had up to 5 outfits to wear😂. By the last outfit they were super fed up!! 😜

What was your experience with this "come and change" business?
