Hello everyone, I hope this post finds you well.
I've thought endlessly about how to construct this 'Epistle about Oblivion' and I have concluded that the best way to go about it is to write about spirit that gave birth to the TEAM that made this movie possible, so here I go (bare with me this might be a long read)
In the two interviews that I've done for I have made a claim in both interviews that the script for this film is better than 90% of Nollywood movies out (beating my chest) and this has rubbed a few people the wrong way and I understand, a 'nobody' taking a shot at a whole industry is bound to raise a few eyebrows.
However the sentiment behind the claim I made comes purely from a place of passion of & for film and what I believe films/movies should represent.
Everyone reading this knows for a fact that after five/ten minutes of watching most Nigerian movies you already know everything important about the particular movie you are watching because you have seen the plot play out in a thousand other Nollywood movies, likewise when you see an actor you can without a second thought correctly guess his/her role in the narrative of the movie. These problems if you consider them problems are not unique to Nollywood but they are very prevalent in Nollywood. I however understand that people love how predictable these movies are and that is a big part of the reason why these very 'formulaic' movies a very common. But I personally believe that movies should be more than what we commonly get from the industry.
Movies in my eyes are the highest form of artistic expression and as such should not just ENTERTAIN people but MOVE them on a METAPHYSICAL level and not just that, I believe movies should motivate, build, breakdown and rebuild whichever audience it finds, it is because of this belief that I made the statement "Oblivion is better than 90% of of Nollywood movies out" because at the core of the MOVIE is an art project.
From the conception of in the mind of Peter, to the adjustments and additions made by me, to the collaborative work with 'z Shazee to get the best out of our cast of aspiring actors Nation Industry and our rookie crew DS both on set and in post production.
This film has no right whatsoever to exist in this form but it does, despite all the challenges and sleepless nights we faced with barely any MONEY to keep it going, the only real thing that fueled the creation of this film was and is PASSION.

THIS MOVIE IS A PRAYER TO THE ARTISTIC SOUL
THIS MOVIE IS A VERY IMPERFECT FEAST FOR THE EYE
BUT ULTIMATELY THIS MOVIE IS THE PERFECT REPRESENTATION OF LOVE FOR FILM & CINEMA.
