THE SECRET TO MAKING YOGURT👇
Ingredients:
1. Any full cream powdered milk 1 cup 🥛
I prefer Dano. You can use your preferred milk.
2. Water 3 cups💧💧💧
3. Yoghurt culture - Unsweetened Greek yoghurt🥛(Farm fresh or Habib yogurt)
Or Lemon🍋 2 TBS🥄🥄
4. Flavour or sweetner (optional)🍫🍬
5. A jar or bowl with cover🫙
6. Wooden or plastic spatula to stir the milk. Don't use iron spoon please.🥢
🔻 Steps:
➡️ Step 1: In a pot, mix your Dano full cream powdered milk with water and dissolve completely.
➡️ Step 2: Place the pot on fire and bring the milk to a boil while stirring continuously with a wooden spatula
Turn off the gas immediately it starts boiling.
➡️ Step 3: Allow the milk to cool to room temperature. It should be cool enough to dip your finger in without burning. If it's too hot the live bacteria (starter culture) you want to introduce will die.
➡️ Step 4: Add 2 tablespoons of a store bought plain Greek yogurt preferably Habib or Farm fresh yoghurt to the cooled milk, then mix very well.
If you can't get a good brand then use lemon juice to make your own homemade starter that you can use in producing more yogurt.
➡️ Step 5: Pour the cooled milk into a jar and cover the lid. Then place it in a cooler, oven, or microwave—anywhere to keep it warm.
Make sure it's where children will not disturb it (I prefer putting mine in a big rice cooler).
➡️ Step 6: Leave for 10 to 15 hours for maximum result. (overnight is better).
It's the lemon juice or starter culture that binds to the lactose and makes the warm watery milk to coagulate(thicken up) after 10-15 hours
And viola! Yoghurt is ready!🥳💃🏽
You'll notice the upper part will be thick while the lower part will be clear liquid.
IF YOU WANT THE THICKER ONE CALLED GREEK YOGHURT:
➡️ Pour the freshly made yoghurt into a pap cloth, tie it, and suspend it in a filter. The clear liquid that drips out is called WHEY, which can also be used in other recipes, while the thicker one is the Greek yogurt.
➡️ Pour the thick yoghurt into a blender and blend until smooth.
The result will be thicker and sour in taste but well...healthier😃
Now you can take some out if you want to make more because why not 😂😃
With that you won’t need lemon juice again, if that's what you used initially. Just store it in the fridge for another batch.
❄️ Serve chilled and enjoy! 😋
