Someone asked me this question, and I thought to share. It might help someone too 😊

How do I get my cake slices?

A round cake is cut into two (semi-circles),
then each half into two (making 4 pieces),
and each of those again into two… giving you 8 perfect slices

Each slice goes for ₦300 💛

That word called Growth happened to me.

The first picture was me in 100 level, selling my products. I remember the fear, wondering if people would buy, if university students would look down on me, if I could even face them, and if I would be able to sustain this “student baker” lifestyle. So many thoughts.

But I chose my brand. I chose to push it. I chose to make people aware of Folavic. I learned how to stand out among other vendors, so that when people eat my products among others, they can tell there is something different, something intentional, something special. And that was exactly what I wanted.

Selling was never just about making money to eat; it was also about what promoting my brand in my early school days would do for my future. So I refused to waste the opportunity.

Now, looking at the other pictures, I see growth. I see evolution. Folavic now rings a bell. Even if they don’t remember my name, they remember the girl with something different. The outstanding one.

And I’m truly grateful.

Oh God, I’m so thankful🙏for growth, for Your hand upon me, and because I know You will continue to be with me.

Academics are fine. Business is fine.
I am grateful, Lord.

These my student customers 😂

When I started selling cut-out cakes in school, everyone kept saying, “We want cupcakes, the ones in paper.” I tried to explain that the cut-out cakes are actually better, you don’t have to deal with paper or lose part of your cake but they refused. Some even said maybe I don’t know how to make cupcakes 😂

So I went ahead and made cupcakes for them this week.

Now they’ve started again: “Ahh, the cut-out is actually bigger… please, we don’t want cupcakes anymore. This paper sef, we no fit dey struggle with am for public” 😭😂

Student entrepreneurs that are shy… I really don’t understand it 😩

Like… shy? As how now?

Back in 100 level, people used to come to me and say,
“Ah sister, you’re so bold o. How can you stand in front of like 1000 students and say you sell cake and pancrakers?”

And I’ll just be like… “Smiles😊... It’s not that deep”

Some of them would say, “I’m too shy, I can’t do it. But because I see you, I might start mine too.” And I’m like… please don’t wait o. This school is your best opportunity to market your goods, make money, and connect with people.

The hair bonnets and scrunchies I was selling in that picture weren't mine, it's for my friend. She said she was too shy to go around.

I said, “Were you shy when you bought the materials for production?"👀

I had already finished selling my own things and was tired, but the thought of her going back with unsold goods didn’t sit well with me. So I carried everything and went out again.

That day, we made thousands.

That was when she finally got the courage to keep going.
Another day, one of my classmates who sells necklaces came to sit with me and said,
“I envy you… I have my necklaces, but I don’t even know how to talk to people.”

I told her, “Wait, let me finish this chat. We’ll go together.”

We stepped out… and you won’t believe it, this same girl that said she wants to sell now said, “Let’s go back, I’m shy” 😭

That was when I realized… this shyness thing is actually serious.

You’ll see someone ready to help you, and you’re still holding back. She later messaged me to say thank you, but honestly…

If you’re a student entrepreneur, you have to push yourself.
Shyness will cost you money.

I understand shyness because I deal with it too. I’m naturally a quiet person, my mum will even say, “Fola, talk now, talk!” 😅. I know what it feels like, and I also know that if you don’t push yourself a little, nothing will change.

I realized that if I don’t speak up and sell my goods, who will help me buy them? Especially when I’m dealing with perishable items.

So I had to preach to myself and step out of my comfort zone.

Maybe some of them are calmer because their goods aren’t perishable sha but still, you have to talk to sell.
We might be shy, but we can’t let it stop us from showing up, especially when money and growth are involved.

Start small if you have to. Go with someone. Practice. But don’t let fear stop you from showing up.

Because the same people you’re shy to talk to are the ones that will buy from you.

Just a beautiful studentbaker 💜 doing her thing.

I went to school with cakes and buns today, and as always… the reviews are mind-blowing 🤭🔥

I sold to one guy, and immediately he took a bite, he said, “Omoh, the buns is bunsing o!” 😂 Another person was even contemplating for like 5 minutes before buying, then finally tried it and said, “He sweet o, guy!”

Honestly, I was so happy. That moment made me realize I need to start recording my customers’ reactions because these sweet reviews come unexpectedly 😩

The buns no dey stay long for ground at all. Once they see me with it, it’s gone. A girl bought #500 worth yesterday, today she bought #700 own. That's how irresistible it is.

They’re already familiar with my cakes, they know that one is premium on its own 😌 But now that I’ve introduced buns… ahhh, they don’t want me to stop again 💜🔥

God, I’m grateful for growth 🙏
