One thing my entrepreneurial journey has taught me is this - grit and tenacity are non-negotiable. When you’re a CEO who is determined to change the narrative, those qualities become your backbone.
No one can take them from you, they’re built over time, through pressure, challenges, and showing up even when it’s hard.
Over the weekend, my team and I pulled off something powerful.
We managed two weddings at the same time, one in Jos (Gindiri, to be precise) and another in Abuja.
But beyond the coordination and planning, one experience stood out in a way I won’t forget anytime soon.
One of the receptions was designed as a beautiful outdoor event. We put in the work every detail thoughtfully curated, every element aligned to create a stunning atmosphere.
It was one of those setups you step back from and feel proud of.
And then, the rain came.
Not a drizzle you can manage but the kind that disrupts everything.
Within a short time, that beautiful setup was scattered. The plan changed instantly, and the reception had to be moved into the church auditorium.
In that moment, it wasn’t about what went wrong, it was about the lessons.
That experience reinforced a few lessons I believe every young entrepreneur, especially those in the event space, needs to understand:
First, no matter how well you plan, some things will always be outside your control. Your real strength is in how you respond.
Second, adaptability is not a bonus skill, it’s a necessity. Things will go off-script. You must be ready to think on your feet and still deliver value.
Third, your mindset matters. It’s easy to feel discouraged when something you’ve built with so much effort is disrupted. But resilience is choosing to push forward regardless.
To my fellow event entrepreneurs, this journey will test you. But moments like this are what shape your capacity and sharpen your leadership.
And to intending couples, let me say this, as you plan your special day, please take weather conditions seriously when choosing your venue and date.
Outdoor events are beautiful, no doubt but having a solid backup plan isn’t optional, it’s essential. It can make all the difference between chaos and a seamless celebration.
There are many lessons behind days like this lessons about leadership, teamwork, adaptability, and staying focused on the bigger picture.
I’ll keep sharing them as we grow.
For now, the message remains simple:
Keep going.
Keep grinding.
Keep building.
And most importantly, keep creating memories and impact that outlive the moment.
