Holding an event this season? I know what it feels like planning for and event and then 'the fear of the rains'. Lol.
Here are some tips to a successful event this season:
1. Decide on your target audience first
2. Have a clear purpose for holding the event at this time- if it doesn't have to take place this season then it might be a good idea to postpone.
3. Choose your venue- Preferably indoor, but if you prefer otherwise ensure that you have a good backup plan incase mother nature decides to have her way.
*Honest advice- an indoor venue is best for this season.
4. Backup Plans- You could make good plans such as:
a) Renting a tent or marquee of good quality- Not the type the slightest wind would blow off else you just might be in trouble- lots of rented stuff, remember? loool.
b) Let your guests know you have a plan for them- For example, you could include in your invitation card that 'In case of heavy rain, please note that a mini van would pick you from the car park to the event auditorium'. Communicating this shows to them that you acknowledge what they might go through honouring your call and you have made a safety plan for them. Cool, don't you think?
c) Don't forget to draw up a safety plan for all electrical and technical equipment, especially the rented ones. I'm sure you don't want to struggle with debts after your wonderful event.
5. Lastly make plans to enjoy your day, rain or no rain everyday was made to be enjoyed. Yeah, right!
Got other great tips or ever had an event in the rains? What was your experience, what went right and what went ooops?
Kindly share!
