One of the things I learnt as an alumni of the event business school with was stepping out of my comfort zone and finding a niche.

As an eventpreneur, the temptation to always be a jack of all events trade is always evident but like my coach taught me; she would say, find where your strength lies and become extraordinary at helping people experience you in that era and zone.

Another thing I had to learn promptly was putting myself in front of the camera and documenting my process. I am still very cranky in that aspect but gradually would grow into staying put when I hear the words and....... .

To everyone who took a chance at this young lady towards ensuring she becomes a better version of herself, this young lady is eternally grateful.

DEVELOPMENT IS INDEED A REQUIRED LIFE TWO FACTOR AUNTHENTICATION

By this time last year,I had taken my chances to step out of my comfort zone. I have always been mentored by the ever since I decided to make a career out of the event industry.

If there's one thing I took home from her, it would be:

1. You can never earn more than your knowledge.
2. You must have a driving *WHY*.
3. If you are made to feel less of yourself on any table, read the room; re-invent yourself and create your own table.
4. The best investment is on *ONESELF* (Material investments can be lost at any time, but a knowledge embedded in your brain can never be taken away).
5. Personal development should never be underestimated.
6. Man know thyself.
7. Never underestimate the God power.

Having been groomed by one of the industries' finest in the area of and drinking from the cup of always re-invent yourself, you would never regret it, i made life changing choices that 7x my income as a girl in the event industry. The drilled my comfort zone out of me. Even when I don't have the zeal, she reminds me of my *WHY*. It was not an easy journey being her mentee, but I must say that the journey made me better than who I was before I encountered her.

As an event hostess, I always looked forward to Tony Elumelu Foundation’s event (TEF).

It was a room filled with excitement and enthusiasm from the beaming smiles of entrepreneurs who scaled through the rigorous stages of interviews to bag the grant awards.

Seeing young creatives who beamed with smile walking around the arena with an invisible halo that exudes from a point of knowledge and intellectual capacity.

It was always a great learning hub to listen in on great minds while being of service to ensure their stay and duration all through the event was super comfortable.

Every point Mr. Tony Elumelu shared with his team is worthy of incorporation into one’s personal life.

I have always heard of God’s power to save, His power to turn situations around and His power to heal.

I have also heard Him speak of people who are weary and heavy laden; and He will give them rest 11:28.

I have been heavily burdened, wearied and exhausted without realizing it. I have allowed myself wear myself out without giving myself any room to breathe.

I have judged myself and burnt myself to the ground without mercy, without observing that the more I did that, the more I burrowed myself to the ground, the more I turned down God’s mercy, His power to save me, His power to recreate me anew despite all my flaws.

Do you feel burnt?

Do you feel your situation has become hopeless?

Just trust Him by giving Him a chance to do what only Him knows how to do best.

This was me as at the year 2012 December……….. I had hit rock bottom mentally, emotionally and psychologically.

I was not quite sure if I still wanted to have a chance at life but the looks of worry, empathy and concern in the faces of the ones who saw my nakedness the most just couldn’t compel me to go for a third strike 🪧.

I had survived an abuse and double failed attempt on su***de at this point.

I had lost the zeal to live but I needed to reach deep down inside of me to pull myself back up. My main concern was,where do I start from?

The call for a negotiation at work has come in but the love I had for the career was nearing a dead end. I rejected the offer and tendered my resignation through word of mouth (it’s not a good corporate move…..word of mouth resignation)

I took a break from everything and luckily for me I had wrapped up on the mandatory program.

Anyone asking me what next must have been met with a piercing look that could send one to but the warmth I felt in the midst of family was very encouraging.

By this time as well;my sisters and were becoming high flyers in the event industry as models and event hostess. But I was not interested because my calling has always been in the corporate world 🤭🤭.

But one thing always left me marveled and that was the financial reward, time freedom and the fact that they did things based on their own terms. I knew I needed a space that would allow me heal properly but I was not so sure if that was a good pathway for me.

Fast forward to 2013/2014; my younger sister was relocating for studies and needed someone to fill in for her on an upcoming job; I offered to do it since I was less busy and needed a distraction on that particular day.

She had given me all the brief I needed as well as contact person for the job as an event hostess. Getting to the venue,I was overtaken by anxiety and claustrophobia, my head was spinning in different directions but I had to hold my forte (the job of an event hostess is not for the faint hearted ooo…….forget the money they make ooo).
