KUCHING, SARAWAK โ A new corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, Kind Borneo, is set to debut on 2nd October, established with a mission to serve and support non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and community stakeholders across Sarawak and the wider Borneo region.
The inaugural event will feature NGO pitch presentations in the morning followed by two dedicated expert panel sessions after lunch.
Founded by Borneo Business Connect directors Datuk Dr Gandhi and Gracie Geikie, Kind Borneo is designed to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and address the unique challenges faced by the non-profit sector.
Advisors of Kind Borneo are Datin Rosemarie Wong Jabu, Dato Jacqueline Fong and Datin Dona Drury Wee spearheading this first time initiative. Their roles and expertise in NGO and community work will offer much insight and experience to be shared with our NGO community.
Associations, NGO representatives, and community leaders are invited to attend these sessions to connect and explore synergies.
The launch of Kind Borneo is strategically co-located with the Business Events Sarawak's Legacy 360 Conference, a pivotal gathering for business events practitioners. This partnership, supported by Business Events Sarawak, was instrumental in mooting the Kind Borneo initiative. It underscores a powerful shared objective: to equip conference and event organizers with the frameworks and inspiration to seamlessly integrate meaningful CSR components into their events, thereby creating a lasting positive impact on local communities.
โBusiness events have immense potential to be a force for good, leaving behind a legacy that extends far beyond the conference walls,โ said Amelia Roziman CEO of Business Events Sarawak. โBy co-locating Kind Borneo with our Legacy 360 Conference, we are providing a practical platform for our industry to directly engage with and understand the needs of local NGOs. This allows us to elevate the CSR elements in our conferences, transforming them from a concept into actionable, sustainable, and impactful support for the communities.โ
The Kind Borneo panel sessions will serve as a nexus for dialogue, bringing together the business events industry , the non-profit sector , government and corporate entities and foundations. First session entitled Forging Effective Partnerships - Aligning CSR Vision with NGO Impact will focus on identifying pressing community needs, developing sustainable support models, and creating tangible opportunities for collaboration that ensure the long-term success of community projects. This will be moderated by Kingston Khoo
The Second Panel Session entitled Beyond Grants - A Strategic Blueprint for NGO Success with Government Linked Foundations will open discussions on how NGOs can better understand the fundamentals and guidelines in grant acquisitions. Moderated by Dato Jacqueline Fong, this session will also explore some success stories.
Kind Borneo will be held on 2nd October at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching Hall D. Representatives from NGOs, associations, community leaders, and business events professionals are invited to visit the NGO Gallery featuring some 20 associations and social community enterprises and attend the afternoon panel sessions.
Sponsorship and Support for Kind Borneo include the BCCK, MACEOS Sarawak Region, Place Borneo, IDA, Team Magnifico and Catcity Holidays.
