π Threads of Malaysia: The Story Behind My Costume
************************************
Two days, one dream β to weave Malaysian batik into clown art. π¨
A few weeks before the Clown Convention in Kuching, my husband had his 2nd heart attack. I almost cancelled my trip but deep down, I knew I had to finish what I started.
It took me one day to cut the fabric and another to sew. I told myself, βKuching or no Kuching, this costume must be ready.β
Fun fact : Iβve never attended any sewing class. Everything I know, I learned from online tutorials. So every stitch was a mix of hope, prayer and YouTube guidance! π»π§΅β¨
When my husband insisted that I go, assuring me our children would take care of him, I went. And on the very first night, I wore this costume proudly.
It was a mix of batik and modern clown design, and to my surprise, international clowns from the US, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Hong Kong and Malaysian came to compliment it.
They loved how I blended Malaysian culture with modern clown fashion and were amazed by how I styled my hijab as part of the costume.
This piece isnβt just fabric and colour, itβs culture, creativity and a reminder that every stitch tells a story. β€οΈ
