The launch of our most beloved Gingerbread House Workshop finally returns! Which took place last Saturday, 29 November 2025, where our Garden Room was filled with laughter, creativity, and the magic of the season. Families, little ones, and friends spent the afternoon decorating their own festive masterpieces, complete with icing, candies, and plenty of holiday cheer.

Guided by our talented pastry team, every gingerbread house became a unique creation, each one capturing the joy and togetherness that make this time of year so special.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this heartwarming experience. We loved celebrating the season with you, one cookie, one sprinkle, and one memory at a time.

Since joining Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur in 2013, Chef Wayne Siow, Pastry Artist, has dedicated his craft to one purpose which is creating Joy. For him, pastry is not just a technique, it is a way to make people feel celebrated and cared for.

Whether itโ€™s a grand wedding cake, a festive centrepiece or a simple dessert that brightens someoneโ€™s day, Chef Wayne finds fulfilment in the delight his creations bring. That same passion recently earned him the Gold Medal at the Culinaire Malaysia competition, a recognition of both his artistry and dedication.

This year, Chef Wayneโ€™s creativity and expertise has become more meaningful as he produces the โ€œ40 Years of Caresโ€ Christmas Ornament Collection that symbolizes hope, compassion, and the spirit of giving. Through this initiative, his art becomes more than artistry, it becomes a source of joy and support for the community.

Yesterday, Thursday the 27th of November 2025, we welcomed our media friends for a heartwarming preview of this yearโ€™s festive delights. From our Classic Chocolate Yule Log and Christmas Pies to Linzer Tortes and the beloved Traditional Stollen, the showcase highlighted the beautiful craftsmanship and tradition behind every handcrafted creation.

The evening continued at the Lobby Lounge, where our media guests indulged in our Festive Yuletide Afternoon Tea, a charming medley of seasonal sweets, savouries, and holiday cheer.

Throwback to a memorable, festive evening filled with light, heart, and true Christmas spirit. Last week, our annual Christmas Charity Tree Lighting Ceremony brought the community together once again to celebrate compassion, connection, and the enduring mission behind our โ€œ40 Years of Caresโ€ theme.

This yearโ€™s celebration was made even more meaningful with heartfelt activities with children from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and children with special needs from Taman Megah. From shared laughter over a high tea celebration to simple moments of joy and warmth, these moments reminded us why our Embrace the Gift of Life programme continues to matter.

The lighting ceremony also brought together key partners, including representatives from Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, whose amazing support has been vital in enabling life-saving heart surgeries for children in need. Together, their commitment continues to shape the legacy of care we have built since 1985.

The highlight of the evening was this yearโ€™s 40 Years of Cares Christmas Charity Tree, a magnificent, rotating ten-tiered creation that stood proudly in the heart of our lobby. Adorned with handcrafted ornaments meticulously designed by award-winning Pastry Artist Chef Wayne Siow and his team, the tree served as a glowing symbol of hope, artistry, and community spirit.

Seeing our lobby illuminated once again, surrounded by guests, partners, and friends who believe in the power of giving, was a beautiful reminder of how kindness continues to bring us together. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening truly special.

In conjunction with , weโ€™re celebrating the joy, creativity, and boundless spirit of children around the world โ€” and honouring our teams who continue to nurture brighter futures through our long-running Embrace programme. Across Shangri-La, our hotels partner with local communities to bring moments of happiness to underprivileged children โ€” from career talks and cookery classes to museum visits and heartfelt celebrations that uplift and inspire.

Here at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, the true meaning of the season is found in kindness, hope, and uplifting the lives of children in our community. Our theme, โ€œ40 Years of Cares,โ€ honours our enduring dedication through the Embrace the Gift of Life programme, which has supported life-saving heart surgeries and essential medical treatments for children in need, raising nearly RM6 million since 1985.

This year, we hosted meaningful activities, including a special high tea for children from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and children with special needs from Taman Megah, creating moments of joy and connection ahead of our annual Christmas Charity Tree Lighting Ceremony, featuring enchanting performances by ballerinas from Vivace Dance Academy, accompanied by joyful carollers, Santa, Santarina, and two cheerful elves.

Throughout the festive season, our charity tree stands as a symbol of hope, welcoming all who wish to celebrate the spirit of giving and make a lasting difference. Together, weโ€™re building a more joyful world โ€” one filled with compassion, connection, and care.

A cherished tradition returns tomorrow as we light our Embrace Christmas Charity Tree at 5:30 PM. It is an evening that marks the beginning of a season filled with warmth, generosity, and hope.

This yearโ€™s display features our โ€œ40 Years of Caresโ€ ornament collection, showcasing six beautifully handcrafted designs created by our Pastry Artist, Wayne Siow, and his talented team. Each vibrant sugar-paste figurine is thoughtfully arranged on a striking 10-tier conical steel structure, forming an enchanting rotating Christmas tree.

We are honoured to welcome the children from UNHCR Refugees and Rumah Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah to this wonderful event.

Since 1985, Embrace the Gift of Life has helped fund life-saving heart surgeries for children in need. This year, every purchase of our handcrafted ornaments, starting from MYR 1,100, continues that mission, bringing hope and brighter tomorrows.
