Shark win!! SHARK SAVERS Malaysia

A win for Sharks! 🦈 A woman has been sentenced to 12 months in jail for smuggling over 990 lbs. of shark fins from endangered species into Hong Kong. 🦈 Officers of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) seized the dried fins and found that 100 kilograms of them were from endangered species such as silky sharks, oceanic whitetip sharks and hammerhead sharks. She was travelling from Brazil via Ethiopia last November, when they confiscated the dried fins valued at about HK$440,000.

In Hong Kong, anyone caught trading or possessing these products faces serious penalties, including fines up to HK$10 million and up to 10 years in prison.
