舞龍的歷史，可追溯到漢代（公元180-230）在古代中國，就像舞獅，戲劇中的一個重要組成部分中華文化。龍本身一向被視為神聖的動物，象徵力量，勇氣，正義和尊嚴。基於這個原因，中國表現出極大的尊敬龍，一直被自稱為龍的傳人的民族身份的標誌。

舞龍標誌著在今年結束，並歡迎一個新的開始，驅趕邪靈，帶來好運和財富的人。

龍舞一直是偉大的場面，通常在大型場合或盛大的開幕儀式，特別是在節日農曆新年慶祝活動。

The history of the Dragon Dance can be dated back to the Han Dynasty (180-230 AD) in ancient China and, like the lion dance, plays an impor

tant part in Chinese culture. The Dragon itself has always been regarded as a Sacred creature, symbolising power, courage, righteousness and dignity amongst others. For this reason, the Chinese show great respect towards the dragon, and have always referred themselves as being Descendants of the Dragon as a sign of ethnic identity. The dance signifies the end of the year and welcoming a new start, driving away evil spirits, bringing good luck and fortune to the people. The Dragon Dance has always been a great spectacle to watch and is usually performed on big occasions or grand openings, especially during the festive Chinese New Year (or Lunar New Year) celebrations.
