Marriage Tips…

When you’re planning a wedding, it’s easy to get wrapped up in colors, vendors, and timelines. But marriage isn’t built on those details. It starts with how you treat each other right now, before the vows.

1️⃣You’re on the same team.
It’s easy to start seeing each other as the problem when things get stressful. Remember, it’s you two vs. the chaos, not you vs. each other.

2️⃣Don’t keep score.
Who’s doing more or spending more doesn’t matter. You’re both giving in different ways, and that balance will shift a hundred times through life.

3️⃣Talk about more than the wedding.
Planning can take over every conversation. Make space to talk about your dreams, plans, and what you’re excited for after the wedding too.

4️⃣Show appreciation often.
A simple “thank you” when your partner picks up the slack goes a long way. Gratitude keeps love soft even when the to do list gets loud.

5️⃣Let small things go.
Not everything has to be perfect or argued over. Sometimes peace is better than being right especially when stress is high.

6️⃣Keep your people close.
The friends and family who show up now will matter later. Lean on them. They’ll remind you why you started when things get overwhelming.

7️⃣Remember the why.
You’re not planning a production, you’re building a marriage. The day is special, but the life you’re creating together is the real thing.

3 Things I’ve Noticed About Couples Who Actually Enjoy Their Wedding

Wedding Day Tips…

Couples who actually enjoy their wedding day usually do a few things differently. Here’s what I keep noticing.

1️⃣They take a minute to slow down
Even with all the moving parts, they find time to pause, look around, and take it in instead of just powering through it.

2️⃣They don’t stress every second of the schedule
The day runs better when they leave some wiggle room. If something runs late, they roll with it. They’re not trying to check off every little thing.

3️⃣They spend time with their people Laughing.
Talking. Dancing. The couples who enjoy the day most are the ones who actually hang out with the people they invited.

If you want a photo and video team who helps keep the day relaxed and fun, comment WEDDING and I’ll reach out.

Reception Tips

A packed dance floor doesn’t just happen. After filming and seeing hundreds of
receptions, these are the things couples say made the biggest difference in
keeping the energy going all night.

1️⃣Pick a DJ who reads the crowd
Couples on WeddingWire and The Knot all say this is huge. A good DJ watches the room and changes songs when energy drops. Don’t hire someone who just plays a preset playlist.

2️⃣Start with your wedding party
No one wants to be the first one on the floor. Ask your wedding party to kick it off right after formal dances. Once they start moving, everyone else follows.

3️⃣Keep the lights low
Bright lights make people feel watched. Dim, warm lighting or dance floor lights make it easier for people to let loose and feel comfortable dancing.

4️⃣Mix up the music
Play a mix that fits all ages. Older guests love classics early in the night, then switch to modern hits once everyone’s loosened up. The goal is to keep the vibe fun, not just trendy.

5️⃣Don’t stop for too many breaks
When the energy’s high, don’t pause it for long speeches or long dessert lines. Once people sit down, it’s hard to get them back up again.

A fun dance floor isn’t about the budget, it’s about the energy. Keep things light, keep the music flowing, and make it easy for people to have fun.

7 Things Couples Overdo With Decorations

Decor Tips

You don’t need to fill every space to make your wedding beautiful. When couples try to do too much, it ends up feeling crowded instead of clean.

1️⃣Too many colors
Stick to two or three colors that fit the vibe. More than that makes things look messy in person and in photos.

2️⃣Tall centerpieces
Big floral pieces look great until you can’t see the person across the table. Go lower so people can actually talk.

3️⃣Too many signs and quotes
A few cute signs are fun, but if every corner has a saying on it, it starts to look like Hobby Lobby exploded. Keep it simple.

4️⃣Too many lights or candles
Romantic lighting is good, but if it’s too bright or uneven, it can ruin the mood. Keep it soft and balanced.

5️⃣Overcrowded ceremony spaces
Let the space breathe. You don’t have to cover every inch with flowers or draping. Sometimes less really does look better.

6️⃣Too many photo walls
One or two backdrops is plenty. Guests won’t take photos at five different setups.

7️⃣Mixing too many styles
Pick one main look and commit. When you mix rustic, boho, and modern all at once, it ends up feeling cluttered instead of connected. Simple always looks better in photos.

Decor Tips…

Your decor doesn’t have to be huge to feel good.

Most couples overspend on the wrong stuff.

Here’s 7 decor cuts that save money without making the room feel empty.

1️⃣ Choose a venue that already looks nice
A space with trees, views, or cool walls needs way less decor. You’re paying for the look of the room, not just the square feet. This is one of the easiest ways to save on flowers and rentals.

2️⃣ Focus on the spots guests see the most
Put your money on the ceremony spot, head table, and bar. Don’t stress about tiny corners no one will stand in. Full decor in a few key places feels better than a little decor everywhere.

3️⃣ Use simple centerpieces you can repeat
One clean design on every table looks calm and full. When every table is different, you spend more time and money trying to make it all match.

4️⃣ Cut tricky DIY projects
Big backdrops, heavy arches, and complex lights can cost more in time, tools, and stress than just renting. Keep your DIY work small and simple so it actually saves money.

5️⃣ Use candles and soft lighting
Simple candles or LED candles do a lot of work for cheap. When the lights feel warm, the whole room feels styled even if the decor is basic.

6️⃣ Reuse decor between spaces
Move aisle flowers to the reception, or use ceremony pieces behind your head table. Have a friend or planner in charge of moving things so you get double use from the same items.

7️⃣ Skip favors guests leave behind
Most people forget to take small favors home. Use that money on flowers, lighting, or food in the room. Guests remember how the day felt more than a tiny gift.

Venue Tips…

Most venue problems don’t come from bad staff.

They come from rules couples didn’t know about until the week of the wedding.

Here’s 5 venue rules I see couples forget to ask about until it’s too late.

1️⃣ Noise curfew and end time
Some venues have a strict time when music has to stop. If you find out later, your DJ might have to cut the party short. Ask what time music must be off and what time guests have to leave. Plan your first dance, speeches, and exit so you aren’t rushed at the end.

2️⃣ Setup and cleanup hours
Many couples assume they can show up in the morning and take their time. Then they learn they only have a few hours to set up and clean. Ask what time you can get in, who is allowed to help, and when everything has to be out. If it feels tight, keep decor simple and ask vendors to help with breakdown.

3️⃣ Vendor and catering rules
Some venues only allow certain caterers, bartenders, or DJs. Others charge a fee for outside vendors. Ask if you have to use a preferred list, if there’s extra fees, and what happens if your vendor isn’t on their list. This helps you avoid surprise charges and last minute changes.

4️⃣ Decor and candle rules
Open flames, hanging items, and live petals can get blocked for safety or cleanup. Ask what decor is allowed on walls, ceilings, and tables, and what isn’t okay. If real candles aren’t allowed, plan for LED candles or other soft lights so the room still feels warm.

5️⃣ Weather plan and backup space
Outdoor spaces often have rules about where you can walk, where chairs can go, and when they’ll move things if it rains or gets windy. Ask exactly what the backup plan looks like and who makes the call. That way you and your vendors can move fast without stress if the weather changes.

Floral Tips…

Flowers can change how your whole wedding looks and feels. These are the little details that couples and photographers say always look amazing in photos.

1️⃣Bouquets that fit your style
Your flowers should feel like you. If your wedding is fancy and clean, keep your bouquet neat and simple. If it’s outdoors or more relaxed, go for something big and natural.

2️⃣Keep them fresh
Droopy flowers show up fast in photos. Ask your florist to deliver close to your ceremony time and keep the bouquets in water until it’s time to walk.

3️⃣Use colors that go well together
Pick two or three main colors that look good next to your dress, suits, and venue. Too many bright colors can make your photos look messy.

4️⃣Don’t forget the small flowers
Little details like boutonnieres, hair flowers, or table blooms help everything match and look put together.

5️⃣Place flowers where they’ll be seen
Talk with your florist about where flowers will show up most in photos, like your ceremony arch, head table, or welcome area. A few good spots make a bigger impact than covering every corner.

If you want a photo and video team who knows how to make your flowers look amazing in photos, comment WEDDING and I’ll reach out.

Venue Tips…

Most couples get so excited about locking in a date that they forget to ask some key questions that can save them money and stress later. Before you sign anything, here are 7 questions worth asking.

1️⃣ What’s actually included in the rental price?
Some venues only include the space. Tables, chairs, linens, or clean up might all cost extra, so double check before you book.

2️⃣ Are we the only event that day?
If your venue hosts multiple weddings at once, you could end up sharing space, parking, or even sound bleed from another party.

3️⃣ What time can vendors arrive for setup and breakdown?
If vendors can’t get in early enough, you’ll lose valuable setup or photo time. Always confirm hours before signing.

4️⃣ What’s the backup plan for bad weather or power issues?
Outdoor weddings are beautiful until it rains. Ask what the actual plan is, not just if there “is one.”

5️⃣ Are there any noise or curfew rules?
Some venues cut music early or don’t allow amplified sound outside after a certain hour. You don’t want your dance floor shut down mid song.

6️⃣ What extra fees can pop up later?
Service fees, corkage, security, or clean up charges can sneak in. Ask for a full list so nothing surprises you.

7️⃣ Who’s the main contact on the wedding day?
You might meet a sales rep now, but that’s not always who’s running things when it matters most. Make sure you know who your point person is.
