The Malawi Womenโ€™s National Cricket Team concluded their campaign at the 2025 Kwibuka T20 Cup with a commendable display of determination and fighting spirit in their final match against Zimbabwe.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, the team put up a disciplined performance, limiting Zimbabwe to 125/7 in 20 overs. Despite a valiant chase, Malawi closed their innings at 95/9, falling short by 30 runs but showcasing unwavering commitment until the very end.

Competing in eight matches throughout the tournament, the team has grown in confidence, experience, and character. While victories may have been elusive, the Malawian side proved their resilience on the international stage and took each opportunity as a stepping stone for growth.

This yearโ€™s Kwibuka T20 Cup, held in Rwanda, brought together some of Africaโ€™s strongest womenโ€™s cricket teams. For Malawi, the tournament served as a crucial platform to test their skills, build team chemistry, and gain exposure to high-level competition.

As they return home, the Malawi Womenโ€™s National Team carries with them not just memories, but the experience and hunger to keep improving. The Kwibuka T20 Cup 2025 may be over, but the future of Malawian womenโ€™s cricket is just beginning.

The Malawi womenโ€™s national cricket team took on hosts Rwanda in their third match of the ongoing Kwibuka Tournament in Kigali on Thursday, 5th June 2025. After winning the toss, Malawi opted to bowl first, aiming to capitalize on early momentum.

Rwanda responded with a solid batting performance, posting 109 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Malawi struggled to find their rhythm and were bowled out for 60 runs in 17.4 overs, falling short by 49 runs.

While the result marked the teamโ€™s third consecutive loss in the tournament, the squad continues to display resilience, fighting spirit, and an unshakable passion for the game.

With five group-stage matches still to play, Malawi remains focused and hopeful as they gear up to face Cameroon today at 13:30 PM CAT.
