Max Anish Gowriah is an artist working across multiple disciplines, including hand-drawn animation and moving image. His practice explores internal states, memory, and transformation through abstraction and symbolic visual language. He works primarily at 6 frames per second, using a reduced frame rate to create intentional, restrained movement and heightened tension within the image.
The work presented is a hand-drawn animation inspired by Alice in Wonderland, following a girl as she moves through a reimagined, dreamlike Mauritius. Composed of thousands of individual drawings and played at six frames per second, the film unfolds as a disorienting, immersive journey where place, perception, and emotional states blur.
