From the grand parades in Victoria 🎺🎉 to the lively village celebrations across Gozo, and Nadur’s bold satirical floats and imaginative costumes 🤹‍♂️🎨, Carnival transforms the island into a dazzling spectacle of excitement.

Cinderella Exhibition: Workshop – How to Create Your Very Own Fairytale 🧚‍♀️✨

During the exhibition The Maltese Cinderella and her Sisters 👠📖 in the Xewkija Windmill, the successful workshop How to Create Your Very Own Fairytale ✍️✨ will be held for the 3rd time, on Sunday 18th January 2026.

Starting from the fairytale il-Germudija, the Maltese Cinderella 🇲🇹👩‍🦰, once told by Marija of Xewkija to Veronica Veen 📚, participants will be encouraged to create their own, individual fairytale 🌟📖. This process can go much deeper than you might expect . Besides, we should not forget that fairytales are a specific literary genre 📚✨ with their own background, demands, and layered symbolism 🔍🌙.

This workshop will be held on the occasion and at the venue 🏛️ of the exhibition The Maltese Cinderella and her Sisters 👠👩‍👧‍👧, based on Veronica’s groundbreaking and award-winning book 🏆📖, “The Maltese Cinderella and the Women’s Storytelling Tradition.”

Completely different from the classical Cinderella , this superb Gozitan variant features a heroine who is self-conscious and energetic, a maid who knows how—without the usual ‘helping animals’ or godmother/fairy —to conquer the heart of a somewhat timid son of a rich household, not a King or Prince.

The story, with its independent and wise heroine-against-all-odds, still conveys a clear and powerful message for women today.
