💍Planning Your Wedding Timeline? Think About the Flow!

For a church wedding in Malta, start by checking if the church allows your preferred timing for a private Mass. The Mass usually takes around 1 hour, but remember to allow extra time for signing the papers, photos, greeting guests and travelling to the venue.

📸 Some couples also stop for a quick photoshoot along the way or take photos at the venue before joining their guests.

🚗 As a guide, allow around 2 hours from the start of the church ceremony until arrival at the venue, depending on distance and photos.

Once at the venue, work backwards when planning the timeline:

⏰ How many hours do you have at the venue?
🎶 Do you want background music when guests arrive, or a solo musician/singer before the band?
🎤 Are there speeches?
🍰 When will you cut the cake?
🎸 How long will the band play before a break?
🪩 Will you move from the band to an after-party DJ? Remember, moving guests can affect the atmosphere.
⏱️ Do you have any specific timings or moments you want to include?

🍽️ If you have buffet tables or food stations, avoid opening them during the best part of the dancing — you don't want guests queuing instead of dancing!

And keep some food flowing with waiters throughout the party for guests who aren't dancing or fancy a little nibble.

❤️ Most importantly, leave time for YOU!

As a couple, make sure you have time to:
🍽️ Actually sit down and eat
📸 Enjoy your photos rather than rushing through them
🥂 Properly s peak to your guests — not just a quick hello and goodbye
💃 Enjoy the dance floor together
📸 Have fun with your photobooth or any other extras you've planned

👋 Finally, allow time at the end to say goodbye, collect personal items and let suppliers dismantle and wrap up.

✨ A good timeline isn't about filling every minute. It's about creating a smooth flow while making sure you actually get to enjoy your wedding day!

💍 How do you choose your wedding date?

Choosing your wedding date is one of the first big decisions — and there’s more to consider than just picking a beautiful day! ✨

🌸 Start with the season
Do you dream of a sunny summer wedding, romantic spring, colourful autumn or a cosy winter celebration? Each season brings a different atmosphere, colours and possibilities.

🌿 Think about the setting
Want an outdoor ceremony, garden reception or a particular style of venue? Your preferred season and weather can make a big difference.

🏛️ Have your heart set on a specific venue?
If there’s a particular location you absolutely love, you may need to be flexible with your date and choose from the venue’s available options rather than the other way around.

☀️ Morning or evening?
Think about the type of celebration you want. Your preferred time can also influence whether a Sunday, public holiday, Friday or Saturday works best for you.

❤️ Choose a meaningful date
Maybe it’s the day you met, your first date, an anniversary or the day you got engaged. A special date can make the celebration even more personal.

💼 Check your work commitments
If you have a specific company shutdown or period when you can easily take leave, this may be an important factor — especially if you're planning your honeymoon straight after the wedding.

💶 Consider your budget
If you’re flexible, an off-peak season or midweek wedding can sometimes offer better value and more availability.

📅 And don’t forget the practicalities
Check public holidays, important family commitments, venue and supplier availability — and give yourself enough options before settling on the date.

✨ There is no one “perfect” wedding date.
The best date is the one that works for you — your vision, your priorities, your loved ones and your budget.

So before choosing the date, ask yourselves: What matters most to us? ❤️

💍 The biggest event of your life… and possibly the most expensive! Where do you start?

Planning a wedding can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re not sure what should come first. Here are a few simple guidelines to get you started:

✨ 1. Set your budget
Know what you’re comfortable spending before booking suppliers.

📅 2. Choose your date & guest numbers
These two decisions will influence almost everything else.

⛪ 3. Book your ceremony & venue
Popular dates can go quickly, so secure these early.

📋 4. Prioritise your suppliers
Photographer, videographer, caterer, entertainment, décor, organisor… decide what matters most to you and allocate your budget accordingly.

💡 5. Keep a little extra aside
Unexpected costs can pop up, so having a contingency budget can save you stress later.

❤️ Most importantly, plan the wedding that feels right for YOU.
There’s no need to follow every trend or spend on things that aren’t important to you.

A little planning at the beginning can make the whole journey so much easier! 🥂

💍 "The caterer has a coordinator… so why would I need a Wedding Coordinator?"

It's a question we hear quite often!

Many caterers provide an on-the-day coordinator, but their priority is managing the catering operation, the venue setup and their own team.

A Wedding Coordinator, however, is there to oversee your entire wedding day.

On the day, we:
✨ Welcome and coordinate all suppliers, ensuring everyone arrives on time and everything is set up according to plan.
✨ Oversee the placement of your personal items, including welcome signs, seating plans, favours, guest books, foam sticks and any special touches you've prepared.
✨ Coordinate the church ceremony, organise the bridal entrance, liaise with the celebrant and photographer, and ensure transport is ready after the ceremony.
✨ Manage your wedding timeline, keeping all suppliers informed so every part of the day flows smoothly.
✨ Liaise with the caterer, kitchen, DJ, photographer and other suppliers to coordinate speeches, cake cutting, the first dance and all other key moments.
✨ Handle any unexpected issues discreetly behind the scenes, allowing you, your family and your guests to simply enjoy the celebration.

The caterer's coordinator looks after the catering service.

Your Wedding Coordinator looks after you, your suppliers and every detail of your wedding day, ensuring everything comes together exactly as planned.

At IDO Events, we're there to make sure your wedding runs seamlessly from the first supplier's arrival until the celebrations are well underway, giving you complete peace of mind. 🤍

🚘 How do you choose the perfect wedding transport? 🤍

Your wedding vehicles are more than just transport—they're part of your wedding style, your photos, and the memories you'll treasure forever.

In Malta, there's something to suit every wedding theme:

✨ Classic & Elegant
🤍 Daimler
🤍 Rolls-Royce
🤍 Bentley
🤍 Vintage Mercedes-Benz

🌿 Vintage & Rustic
🚐 VW Camper Van
🪲 VW Beetle
🚗 Classic Mini
🚙 Vintage Land Rover

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 For the whole bridal party
🚌 Traditional Maltese wedding bus
🚎 Vintage coach
🚐 Luxury minibus or shuttle for family and guests

💡 Before booking, think about:
✔️ Your wedding theme and venue
✔️ The colour of the vehicles
✔️ How many people need transport
✔️ Whether your bridal gown needs extra space
✔️ Your photo opportunities and timeline
✔️ If you'd like a separate car for the groom and groomsmen

There isn't a "perfect" wedding car—only the one that best reflects your style, your story, and your special day. ❤️

Morning, Afternoon or Evening Wedding… Which One Is Right for You? 💍✨

One of the biggest decisions when planning your wedding is when to celebrate — and the timing can shape the entire experience.

☀️ Morning / Early Afternoon Weddings
• Lighter, softer fabrics and more relaxed dress styles
• Fresh, elegant décor with bright florals and natural light
• Beautiful airy photos with stunning daytime colours
• Brunches, lunch menus, cocktails, prosecco bars & lighter dining options
• Perfect for garden venues, terraces, countryside locations and venues with sea views
• Often held on Sundays or public holidays, which can sometimes mean better venue rental rates

🌙 Evening Weddings
• More formal attire, glamorous gowns and black-tie elegance
• Romantic lighting, candles, dramatic setups and luxurious décor
• Golden hour and night photography create a completely different atmosphere
• Full dinner service, premium bars, signature cocktails and late-night entertainment
• Ideal for ballrooms, luxury venues and locations that truly shine after sunset

There’s no “better” option — only the one that matches your style, your vision and the atmosphere you want to create.

The perfect wedding starts with choosing the perfect moment. 💕

🌸 Choosing Your Wedding Flowers? Here's What to Consider! 🌸

Your wedding flowers do more than decorate your venue—they help tell your love story and set the mood for your special day. Before making your floral selections, consider these important factors:

💐 Colour Palette
• Match flowers to your wedding theme and colour scheme.
• Consider how colours will look in photos and under different lighting.
• Think about whether you want soft, romantic tones or bold, vibrant colours.

🌿 Flower Types
• Choose blooms that reflect your style and personality.
• Consider the symbolism or meaning behind certain flowers.
• Mix focal flowers with complementary blooms and greenery for depth and texture.

🌞 Seasonality
• Selecting flowers that are naturally in season can offer better quality and value.
• Seasonal blooms are often fresher and more readily available.
• Ask your florist about beautiful alternatives if your dream flower is out of season.

🌸 Shape & Style
• Round bouquets create a classic, timeless look.
• Cascading bouquets offer elegance and drama.
• Wild, organic arrangements suit rustic, boho, and garden-style weddings.
• Structured designs complement modern and contemporary weddings.

🏛️ Venue & Setting
• Consider the size and style of your venue.
• Large spaces may require statement arrangements, while intimate venues can shine with smaller details.
• Outdoor weddings may need flowers that can withstand sun, wind, or heat.

👗 Your Attire
• Flowers should complement, not compete with, your dress and bridal party attire.
• Consider bouquet size and proportions in relation to your silhouette.

✨ Fragrance
• Some flowers have strong scents while others are subtle.
• Consider guest comfort, especially in enclosed spaces.

📸 Photography Impact
• Flowers are featured in many wedding photos.
• Choose arrangements that enhance your overall aesthetic and photograph beautifully.

💰 Budget
• Prioritise where flowers will have the greatest visual impact.
• Repurposing ceremony flowers for the reception can maximise your investment.

❤️ Personal Touches
• Incorporate meaningful flowers, family traditions, or favourite blooms.
• Add unique elements such as herbs, foliage, dried flowers, or sentimental details.

Remember: The best wedding flowers aren't necessarily the most expensive—they're the ones that perfectly reflect your style, season, and celebration. 🌷✨

✨ Your wedding invitation is the first impression of your special day ✨

Before the flowers, the music, or the dress — your invite gives guests a little taste of what’s to come. 💌

A formal invitation may hint at an elegant, classic celebration, while a more relaxed design can reflect a fun, casual atmosphere. Colours, fonts, materials, and wording all help set the tone and match your wedding theme. From timeless neutrals to bold seasonal palettes, every detail tells part of your story.

And don’t forget the magic of personalisation — custom illustrations, meaningful quotes, wax seals, monograms, or even a special message can make your invite uniquely you. 💍

Because great weddings start with a beautiful first impression. ✨
