𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡’𝐬 “𝐂𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐈𝐈” 𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟐
𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐏𝐀𝐍, 𝐂𝐍𝐌𝐈 — After a year marked by unprecedented challenges for the CNMI, Trench Tech and Trench Warz Promotions are preparing to step back into the spotlight with the return of one of the Marianas' premier combat sports events. “Cage of Fire III” is scheduled to take place LIVE “inside the eight sides” at the Roundhouse at Garapan Central Park on Saturday night, December 12, bringing competitors, coaches and combat sports fans together for what promises to be a special night of competition and community. The event will be only the second Trench Tech and Trench Warz Promotions event of the year, following March's “Ballroom Blitz,” a jiu-jitsu-only event that showcased the growing grappling community in the CNMI.
The unusually quiet event calendar was largely the result of a difficult year for the islands. The back-to-back devastation caused by Super Typhoons Sinlaku and Bavi disrupted much of the CNMI's public-event calendar, affecting sporting events, community activities and other gatherings throughout 2026. For Trench Warz Promotions President and Trench Tech Professor Cuki Alvarez, however, the challenges of the year make the return to competition even more meaningful. “The disasters definitely affected a lot of our plans this year,” Alvarez said. “But we're still here, and we're going to finish the year the same way we started it — MARIANAS STRONG!”
While preparations for Cage of Fire III are underway, one of the unique challenges facing the promotion is the availability of accommodations for competitors traveling from outside the CNMI. The storm damage has contributed to a shortage of available hotel rooms, while many remaining accommodations have also been utilized to house relief workers and others involved in the islands' ongoing recovery efforts. As a result, the participation of off-island competitors remains uncertain. That could give Cage of Fire III a distinctly local flavor.
The event will likely take the form of what combat sports insiders commonly call a “smoker” — an event designed primarily around local competitors, often providing athletes with an opportunity to test themselves against fellow fighters from their own community. If that becomes the case, Cage of Fire III could feature a card made up entirely of athletes from right here in the CNMI, giving local competitors an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of friends, family and their hometown fight fans. And there will be plenty of variety.
Unlike events that focus exclusively on one discipline, Cage of Fire III is expected to feature all four of the major combat disciplines taught at Trench Tech: Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing, kickboxing and mixed martial arts (MMA). The combination is expected to provide fans with a diverse night of combat sports, from technical grappling and traditional boxing to the fast-paced striking of kickboxing and the all-around skill set required in mixed martial arts. Alvarez emphasized that the event is still very much in its planning and organizational stages, with additional details expected to emerge over the coming months.
“There's still a lot we're working on,” Alvarez said. “We're putting things together and figuring out what the card is going to look like. As we get closer, we'll have more announcements and updates.” Fans and supporters can follow Trench Warz Promotions on Facebook and on Instagram for announcements regarding competitors, matchups, event information and other Cage of Fire III updates. Trench Warz Promotions also extended its appreciation to IT&E, the event sponsor, for its continued support of combat sports in the CNMI.
According to the promotion, sponsorship support from businesses such as IT&E plays an important role in helping local combat sports organizations provide opportunities for athletes and continue developing the sport throughout the islands. Despite the obstacles of 2026, Alvarez said the promotion remains grateful for the people who have continued to support its events.
“We want to thank all of our competitors, our sponsors, everyone behind the scenes who helps make these events happen, and most importantly, our fight fans,” Alvarez said. “You guys are the reason we keep doing this. You make every event special and memorable for us.”

As Trench Warz Promotions prepares to close out a challenging year, the promotion is already looking beyond Cage of Fire III toward what could be an even busier 2027. “We're really looking forward to 2027,” Alvarez said. “We have a lot of hopes and plans for the Trench Warz Promotions event calendar, and we're excited about what's ahead.”
For now, the focus is on December 12 — bringing the CNMI combat sports community together at the Roundhouse for one more night of competition, camaraderie and local pride. After a year in which the Marianas were tested by two powerful storms, Trench Tech and Trench Warz Promotions hope to send a simple message from the cage: The Marianas are still standing, the fighters are still fighting, and our islands are more resilient than ever.
