Šīs mūzikas stils radās ASV Rietumkrastā 20. gadsimta vidū, un to raksturo strukturētas aranžijas, skaidras melodiskās līnijas un atturīga, bet precīza improvizācija.

The self-portrait – especially in the digital age – is no longer merely a representation, but a negotiation, an oscillation between what the self is and what it is regarded to be. It becomes a statement of reclamation of space and autonomy, a taking back of control. More than a visual artifact, it is the playing out of a mental state in real time.

Carl Jung’s contribution to this discussion lies in the insistence that much of the self is not consciously accessible to us. What we know of ourselves is shaped largely in contrast to what we repress. This repressed portion of the psyche – what Jung termed the shadow – contains those qualities we deny, abhor, or fear in ourselves: anger, weakness, envy, vulnerability. These do not vanish; they are projected.

On September 19, MASA Kultūrbārs will host the presentation of FunCOOLio’s new program Fusion of Horizons.

The Latvian quartet presents its new set of instrumental compositions in the Baltic Fusion style. These pieces reflect a distinctive jazz-rock ornamentation — the thematic development is enriched by rhythmic intricacy and sharp, yet organic harmonic turns.

Ansambli vada saksofonists un komponists Enrique Thompson (Argentīna), viņam pievienojas pianists Daniel Schwarzwald (Austrija), kontrabasists Gustavs Vilsons (Latvija) un bundzinieks Andris Zabris (Latvija).

For the first time in Latvia!
On September 12, MASA Kultūrbārs invites you to the concert of Revirado Project! An evening where the passion of Argentine tango meets the freedom of jazz improvisation. The ensemble is led by saxophonist and composer Enrique Thompson (Argentina), joined by pianist Daniel Schwarzwald (Austria), double bassist Gustavs Vilsons (Latvia), and drummer Andris Zabris (Latvia).

Revirado Project is an internationally acclaimed ensemble, described as having “electrifying stage energy” (Arturo O’Farrill, 5 Grammy Awards) and “a captivating fusion of tango and jazz” (All About Jazz). The program will feature original compositions that balance tradition with a contemporary perspective.
