Public Statement: Mokete Oa Mahipi 2024
Mokete Oa Mahipi began as a vision shared by a group of hip-hop enthusiasts—fresh minds united by a common dream. The first event taught us tough lessons; despite the excitement, one co-founder chose to step away after we faced financial losses. But we refused to give up. Instead, we forged ahead with determination, setting a date and embarking on preparations for what we hoped would be a monumental second chapter.
However, the journey has been anything but smooth. The closure of our initial venue, Pool Side, left us scrambling for alternatives. Despite writing and submitting over 20 proposals, rejection after rejection put our dream of creating the biggest hip-hop event in Lesotho at risk.
A glimmer of hope came when we found a collaborator. Plans were set in motion, but to our dismay, they organized their own event just a week before Mokete Oa Mahipi. As if that wasn’t enough, we secured our ideal venue only to discover that our chosen date, December 7th, was already booked.
At that moment, it felt like everything we had worked for was crumbling. After a year of relentless planning, our passion seemed to hang by a thread. But as the words of Kommanda Obbs’ "Hake Fele Moea" (I Won’t Give Up) and 2Pac’s'Never Give Up' played in our minds, we found the courage to push forward.
In Lesotho Entertainment, survival is for the determined. If this is a test of our character, we choose to persevere—not for profit, but for our passion and love for hip-hop.
To our stakeholders and loyal fans, we sincerely apologize for the silence. Behind the scenes, we’ve been fighting battles to keep this dream alive. We’re now ready to rise above these challenges, announcing a NEW DATE and VENUE that will keep the spirit of Mokete Oa Mahipi alive.
Thank you for your patience, support, and belief in us. Hip-hop is not just music—it’s a movement, a culture, and a way of life. We’re here to stay.
