Captain Khahliso Makhata

Captain Makhata is a commissioned officer of the Lesotho Defence Force with 22 years of distinguished service. A dedicated soldier, leader, and custodian of Basotho culture, Capt Makhata is the Leader of the LDF Pitiki Team.

In her military career, she has exemplified the LDF motto Ts'epo ea Sechaba - Hope of the Nation through discipline, resilience, and service to the Kingdom of Lesotho. As a leader of Pitiki, she leads the LDF's premier female cultural ensemble that preserves and promotes Sesotho heritage through the traditional pitiki dance, while representing the Defence Force at national ceremonies, and military cultural festivals.

Her leadership has transformed the Pitiki Team into a symbol of strength, unity, and pride for Defence Force. She stands as a role model for women in the security sector, proving that a Mosotho woman can be both a formidable soldier and a proud custodian of culture.

Kefuoe Nkuatsana is a Mosotho educator, social entrepreneur, and passionate advocate for children with special needs. She was born in Soweto, South Africa, and raised in Lesotho at Ha Rasetimela, Naleli, Berea.

She is the Founder and Director of Mamello Special Needs Centre based in Naleli Berea District, a pioneering centre dedicated to supporting learners who are often left behind in mainstream education.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:

- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education - National University of Lesotho (NUL)
- Honours in Inclusive Education
- Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management - Recently Completed
- Currently pursuing Masters in Inclusive Education Curriculum

MAMELLO SPECIAL NEEDS CENTRE:

Mamello accommodates learners from Pre-School to Grade 9 and provides specialized support for:

Ntsoaki Mamoliehi Tlai-Tlai Ranko is the founder of Emily’s Kitchen and Training, a culinary initiative born from one big dream: to help Basotho youth build a future through practical skills.

Emily’s Kitchen started in October 2024 with just 6 trainees. What began small was driven by a powerful observation — many young people in Lesotho drop out of school due to financial challenges, family issues, and unemployment, and struggle to find work because they never had the chance to finish their education. Ntsoaki believed they needed practical, income-generating skills to create opportunities for themselves and make an honest living.

At Emily’s Kitchen, she teaches cooking, baking, plating, and all aspects of culinary arts. After training, trainees are assisted with internship opportunities to gain real industry experience.

What sets Emily’s Kitchen apart is its clean and beautiful food presentation, unique plating styles, and the core values instilled in every trainee: discipline, respect, and humility.

Her Vision: To be remembered as a respectful woman, a mentor, and a chef who used food to change lives.
