The Majestic Esala Perahera (July/August): 😍

Without a doubt, the most spectacular event in Kandy's calendar is the Esala Perahera, also known as the Festival of the Tooth. Held annually in July or August, this grand procession pays homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, housed at the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth). For ten dazzling nights, the streets of Kandy come alive with: 🤩🔥❤️

Lavishly Decorated Elephants: Caparisoned in ornate costumes, these gentle giants lead the procession. 🐘✨💞

Traditional Dancers: Kandyan dancers in their vibrant attire perform energetic routines, accompanied by drummers and other musicians. 💃🥁🎶
