A GOLDEN RETURN HOME 🇱🇰✨

Following her extraordinary achievement at the 6th Asian Beach Games 2026, Sanya, China, Sri Lanka proudly welcomed back its first-ever Gold Medalist in Beach Wrestling (50kg), Nipuni Wasana.

She was warmly received by the leadership of the Wrestling Federation of Sri Lanka, whose unwavering support and guidance paved the way for this historic victory, led by President Mr. Sarath Hewavitharana, along with Secretary General Mr. Harsha Bandara.

A warm welcome was also extended to the dedicated coaching staff, including Mr. Suranga Kumara and Mr. Saman Abeyrathna, as well as to athletes Nethmi Ahinsa, Lakmal Wijesooriya, and Madushanka Premarathna, who proudly represented Sri Lanka and showcased their talent and determination throughout the competition.

Executive Committee Members and other officials also joined the occasion, making the welcome even more special.

This historic victory is not only a triumph for wrestling but a proud moment for all of Sri Lankan sport. Our Golden Girl, Nipuni Wasana, has etched her name in history with a remarkable achievement that will inspire generations to come.

Adding to this pride to Sri Lanka Wrestling, she had the honour of carrying the Sri Lankan flag at the Grand Closing Ceremony a symbol of courage, dedication, and national pride on the international stage.
