The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism has unveiled a modernized official website and a cohesive digital platform designed to streamline operations for Sri Lanka's diplomatic missions worldwide. This strategic enhancement aligns with the government's commitment to digital innovation.
The launch event, held on Monday, was graced by the presence of Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath, alongside deputy ministers, key ministry officials, and the heads of Sri Lankan missions abroad, who joined the proceedings virtually.
Minister Herath emphasized that this initiative is geared towards elevating public service delivery through enhanced efficiency, greater accessibility, improved transparency, and strengthened accountability. He further elaborated that the platform is poised to significantly bolster Sri Lanka's digital outreach to its citizens, expatriate communities, international partners, potential investors, and the global tourism sector.
Initially, seven Sri Lankan missions—specifically those in New Delhi, Malé, Cairo, Bucharest, Brasília, Wellington, and The Hague—have been integrated into this unified digital ecosystem. The ministry intends to progressively extend this system in subsequent phases, with the ultimate objective of bringing all Sri Lankan missions abroad under a standardized digital umbrella. This ambitious project was brought to fruition through the combined efforts of several divisions within the ministry, in partnership with the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) and the Information and Communication Technology Agency.
