تُنطق "شانغو" فرقة موسيقية مقرّها لبنان تقدّم الألحان البرازيلية، من أنغام البوسا نوفا الهادئة إلى إيقاعات السامبا السريعة، بالإضافة إلى مجموعة متنوعة من الإيقاعات الأفرو-برازيلية والارتجالات الموسيقية. تشاركنا الفرقة أعمالًا لأشهر المؤلفين البرازيليين مثل أنطونيو كارلوس جوبين، وبادين باول، وجيلبرتو جيل، وبيشينغينيا، وسيرجيو مينديز، وتوكينيو، وشيكو بواركي، ودجافان، وكلارا نونيس، وكايتانو فيلوسو وغيرهم الكثير.

We invite you to Xangô - a night of Afro-Brazilian music, as part of Beirut International Jazz Week.

Xangô ( pronounced Shangoh ) is a Lebanese-based band covering Brazilian music. The music ranges from smooth Bossa Nova to fast Samba, a variety of Afro-Brazilian rhythms and improvisations. Xangô will be covering tunes by Brazil's most famous composers such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Baden Powel, Gilberto Gil, Pixinguinha, Sergio Mendes, Toquinho, Chico Buarque, Djavan, Clara Nunes, Caetano Veloso, and a lot more.

شهر نيسان شهر ارتبط بذاكرة الحرب الأهلية اللبنانية.
الفيلم الوثائقي للمخرجة ميريام الحاج بيخاطب واقع البلد من خلال سردية على شكل مذكّرات من فترات أمنية مختلفة، أهمّها السنوات الأربعة التي تروي صعوبات و محاولات مرّ بها الشعب لكسر حواجز عدة.

April is the month that brings memory to the Lebanese Civil War. the Filmmaker Myriam El Hajj presents a narrative in the form of diaries, about four tumultuous years of a nation in turmoil, battling to break free from its own chains.

كان عنّا الفرصة نبرمج جلسة تأمّل وتواجد مع رأفت حمزة خلال شهر الصيام، وقدّمنا ورشة تعليمية للمبتدئين حول التصوير الفوتوغرافي مع بدر الصفدي، وحرصنا على طرح فيلم درامي مستقل "فوتوكوبي" في نادي السينما.

We’d love to share with you glimpses of March at Marsah.
We had the opportunity to program a presencing session with Raafat Hamze during the month of fasting. We also offered a beginner-level photography workshop with Badr Al-Safadi, and we ensured to screen an independent drama film "Photocopy" in the cinema club.

We wish you a happy Eid Al-Fitr and an enjoyable holiday.

يعمل سبع فنانين من ذوي الخبرة في مجالات مختلفة على إرشاد ودعم ثمان فنانين مقيمين بممارسة وإنتاج الأعمال الفنية، بطور الحصول على منح للإنتاج.

ندعوكم للتسجيل بورشة التصوير الفوتوغرافي للمبتدئين مع المصوّر بدر الصفدي. تقدّم الورشة تعليمات حول ثلاثة مجالات أساسية في التصوير، هي: التحكم بالكاميرا، الإعدادات، والميزات، التعريض الضوئي (exposure)، والتكوين (composition)؛ تسمح للمشارك/ة باستخدام الكاميرا بثقة والتقاط صور إبداعية.
تبدأ الورشة يوم الجمعة ٧ آذار، وتُقام كلّ يوم جمعة وسبت طوال شهر آذار (8 جلسات).

We're inviting you to register for the beginner photography workshop with photographer Bader Al Safadi. The workshop offers instructions in three fundamental areas of photography: Camera controls, settings, and features, exposure, and composition; allowing participants to confidently use their cameras and capture creative images.
The workshop begins on Friday, March 7, and will be held every Friday and Saturday throughout March (8 sessions).
Duration of each session: 2 hours.
time: from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m.
Registration fee: $30 (70% of the registration fees are covered by Marsah).

من أهمّ المحطّات بسنة 2024، مشاركتنا، ممثّلين بمديرة مرسح نادين علي ديب، في برنامج Momentum Delegate Programme بدعوة من المجلس الثقافي البريطاني خلال مهرجانات إدنبرة 2024، ضمن وفد منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا. تمحورت المشاركة حول مشروع In Between Momentum، الذي يناقش تنظيم المهرجانات في العالم العربي وأهميّتها. هذه التجربة أكّدت من جديد أهمّية الشراكات بالنسبة لمرسح كمساحة تجمع بين الفنّ، المعرفة، والتعاون الإبداعي. نسعى عبر هذه الشراكات لتطوير مهرجانات تعكس ثقافتنا وتستجيب لاحتياجات مجتمعنا، بالاستفادة من الخبرات العالمية.

One of the key milestones of 2024 was our participation, represented by the director of Marsah Nadine AliDib, in the Momentum Delegate Programme, invited by the British Council during the Edinburgh Festivals 2024 as part of the Middle East and North Africa delegation. The participation revolved around the In Between Momentum project, which explores the organization of festivals in the Arab world and their significance. This experience reaffirmed the importance of partnerships for Marsah as a space that bridges art, knowledge, and creative collaboration. Through these partnerships, we aim to develop festivals that reflect our culture and respond to the needs of our community, while benefiting from global expertise.

Delving into their motivations and creative processes, the series explores the challenges and successes they encounter along the way.

في الربع الأول من هذا العام، يقدّم مرسح أفلامًا من سوريا ومصر وإيران ولبنان. أعمال تنتقد الأنظمة القائمة وتفتح آفاقًا لتخيّل عقود مستقبلية كانت تعتبر مستحيلة، بدت محدّدة مسبقًا أو مؤجّلة إلى الأبد. توفّر هذه الأفلام نافذة على عالم تسود فيه الميلونكوليا شعورًا جماعيًّا، حيث تلقي العدمية بظلالها على ما هو غير متوقّع. تتحدّى هذه الأفلام تصوّراتنا عن جغرافيات وزمنيات متخيّلة جديدة، عوالم بعيدة عن القبضة الخانقة للدكتاتورية. هذه الأفلام ليست إجابات، بل دعوات: نقاط دخول للحوار، والتساؤل، والتصوّر.

For the first quarter of this year, Marsah presents films from Syria, Egypt, Iran, and Lebanon—works that critique the regimes in place and open up space for imagining futures once deemed impossible, futures that seemed predetermined or forever deferred. These films offer a window into a world where melancholia lingers as a collective sentiment, where nihilism shadows the unforeseen. They challenge us to think about new imagined geographies and temporalities—worlds away from the suffocating grip of dictatorship. These films are not answers but invitations: entry points for conversation, questioning, and envisioning.
