In November 2025, we started a music project inspired by the nostalgia from the catalogues of the 70s and 80s; what I refer to as the era of the African big bands - From Fela, Franco, The Hodi Boys, Manu Dibango, and hence Nairobi RhumbaBrunch was born.

The idea was to bring back the musicality, the big bands, the horn section arrangements, the dancers and the African sound. To resurrect the movement and the memories and the response has been mind blowing. Shows have been packed, the fans are reconnecting with the sound in a new way.

The response has been overwhelming. We all love it. And the exploration has not stopped. Digging new crates everyday, exploring new sounds and interpreting the classics anew. We have found ourselves at the top of a new movement. And the concerts are fun!

And so we have a gig coming up - this one we go all out; we probably have not dug this hard before to bring you a show. But the All White Rhumba will be worth your time.

Audience Serenade POV: A trumpet Legend honours a Rhumba great. 🎺❤️
