Sometimes the best stories begin with a simple phone call.

About two weeks ago, we came across a Canon 90D DSLR camera paired with a versatile 24-105mm lens that was up for sale. As a media company that is constantly investing in professional photography equipment, cameras, lenses, drones, livestreaming gear, and production tools, we knew it would be a valuable addition to the growing PTP Studios Africa arsenal.

There was only one challenge.

The seller, Lilian, was always on the move. Between work commitments, a busy schedule, and a network signal that seemed determined to disappear whenever we needed it most, coordinating the purchase became a journey of its own. ๐Ÿ˜…

What we later learned was that Lilian had almost been conned while trying to sell the camera in Nairobi CBD. That experience understandably made her very cautious. In fact, she had requested people who had shared her sale post on Facebook to take it down, although one of those posts remained active.

Fortunately, when we got in touch and she saw the online presence, portfolio, website, social media pages, and credibility of PTP Studios Africa, trust began to build.

Fast forward to today.

Accompanied by OTG, one of the best drone pilots we have in Kenya, we made our way to Bliss Gardens, next to Thome Estate along the Northern Bypass in Kiambu.

The mission was simple:

โœ… Inspect the camera
โœ… Complete payment
โœ… Leave

Estimated time: 15 minutes.

Actual time: SIX HOURS. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Somewhere between testing the camera, inspecting the lens, discussing photography, sharing industry experiences, and exchanging countless jokes, what was supposed to be a quick transaction became one of the most enjoyable afternoons we've had in a while.

And yes, when someone arrives wearing glasses, asks all the right questions, and has a story about nearly being conned, your instincts naturally switch to "maximum caution mode." ๐Ÿ˜„ But within minutes it became clear that Lilian was genuine, professional, and simply protecting herself after a bad experience.

The result?

A successful transaction.

A new Canon 90D officially joins the PTP Studios Africa family.

New connections were made.

And we left with more than just a cameraโ€”we left with a great story.
