Hey Everyone! 👋🏽

I thought it was about time that I showed you all the face behind the brand, The Berbere Stop 🌶️ Your favourite fusion kitchen.

My name is Jamal. Founder & Head Chef 👨🏽‍🍳 I'm Kenyan, just in case you are wondering.

It's going to be a good solid 3 years at the end of this year since I brought the kitchen to life. I have always been passionate about cooking but Ethiopian food has always had a special place in my heart as I grew up around Ethiopian friends since childhood. ♥️

Ever since then, I was hooked for life. As you may all know, 'Injerra' is a nutritious and famous, fermented spongy flatbread eaten alongside stews and many other cultural dishes. Injerra can be an acquired taste for many as of the sourness in the bread, especially if it is your first time.

In my kitchen, my goal is to bring diversity and innovation because I believe Foodies should be given the option to enjoy food however they like, even if they aren't accustomed to the taste per say. Have you eaten stir fried honey glazed gizzard with Injerra or okra? or fish masala? I promise you, it is delicious! 🤤 I have made these personally because you will not find such on your average Ethiopian menu, among many other meals I have created and re-created.

I freshly prepare my dishes using local Kenyan spices together with Ethiopian spices to bring a Unique taste. My intention is to bring these amazing cultures together, so that we can explore new and different tastes.

I wouldn't have gotten this far without all your amazing support and I look forward to bringing you a more diverse menu. So, kindly stay tuned with me on this food exploration journey.

I'm also working towards having the kitchen in an open seating area in the near future. So you can experience, good food and vibes with your friends, family and loved ones. 🙂
