Can we have easy wedding mornings?

I've been keen on how to simplify wedding mornings and as I've followed discourse on westafrican weddings I bumped into the it wedding happening now of Simi.

It was interesting to learn that something West African couples do is have images and videos done for all wedding outfits at once to eliviate the pressure on the actual wedding morning, and don't get me started on the wedding guests who do this as well 😅, but that's a story for another day.

Now, because Kenyan weddings are usually production heavy the morning off, I'm wondering whether this is something that could help Kenyan couples do better story telling and wedding day personalisation because you'll be approaching production from a point of (this is the story I'd like to tell) and not a (this is what happens in the industry type of scenario, you get me?

I'm curious if this is something vendors and clients alike would be willing to adopt

I'm back with another dilemma
Why do we think couples hosting weddings don't get to spend enough time with their guests?

Intentionality means we put some thought into the how everything will be done, and how it ties in together.

Good event planning means working from a place of knowing and not reaction based. That means intention should be placed around the main reason for hosting an event, interacting with those you've hosted, and that includes questioning the culture around weddings you've gone for and forging a path that embraces the community that is present to celebrate you.

If you're newly engaged, do you know what you want? We think alot about what we don't want but never what we do.....and this sets many couples for failure.

Why is wedding personalization always compared to budget?

I understand there are bits about it that can only be supported by budget, but far from that, a bigger chunk is about the structure of the event and the things that make the wedding yours and not someone else's.....

We need to change the cuktyre around weddings and wedding planiing in general by also realising that some things aren't just a western thing, it should be the norm here too.

I believe it starts with being intentional with knowing what you want. We know what we don't want, but do you know what you want as a bride or as a groom?

Because your days program is made up of the things you want.... If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

On this week's Episode of Events Dilemmas, I narrate a story of my experience as an event professional experiencing what we term as 'FORCE MAJURER' in wedding contracts....

Sometimes life just happens and is the only way to go because the show must go on.
In such scenarios we have one main job, reassuring the bride and groom that everything will work out and our other main job, is working with other vendors on ground to ensure we deliver on our promise.

Vendors can be interesting, and sometimes as a bride its important to be discerning and go with your gut.

That said, since we have determined that things can go wrong on your wedding day, it's imperative to have a vendor who can trouble shoot quickly without being flustered.

In my case, the vendor was under prepared for the type of hairstyle we had spoken about, they needed to have a bun to bring out the style I wanted, but even in the thick of it, someone else had to step in.

That's why you need a coordinator or event planner because out of experience, trouble shooting is a skill we have.
