While everyone was watching the stage, we were watching the infrastructure.

Africa Forward Le Concert ran to 2am. Live broadcast. Presidents of France and Kenya in the room. Thirty heads of state. A YouTube stream going to the whole continent simultaneously.

Zero visible technical failures.

That doesn't happen because of luck.
and built the technical architecture behind last night — the screen quality, the sound consistency, the broadcast feed, the live stream that extended the room from 3,500 people at Kasarani to an audience across Africa. The intro videos for each artist that held the room between sets. The stage transitions that never let the energy drop.

In events, the technical team is the most invisible part of a successful night. You only hear about them when something goes wrong.

Last night, nobody heard about them.

That is the highest compliment our industry gives.
To TRACE East Africa and Safaricom: the continent was watching. You made it look easy.

Behind every great event is a crew that never gets the standing ovation.

They deserved one last night. 👏

Kasarani ran until 2am last night.

Nobody left early.

Here is what happened at Africa Forward Le Concert: a 15-year-old from Mathare delivered a poem on a stage in front of 30 heads of state. reminded the whole continent who she is. Fally Ipupa sent his apologies via video from wherever he was. closed the night with "Finale" — a song that carried three meanings at once, all of them completely intentional.

and held the technical infrastructure. The screens were built for broadcast. The lights were designed for a show, not a match. The intro videos for each artist? Cinematic. announced it would start backing artists and the creative industry the way they deserve to be backed. Kenya Airways flew the continent in.
And somewhere in all of it, the events industry of East Africa quietly proved it can deliver at any level the world asks of it.

The Africa Forward Summit 2026 Concert Lineup, For the Record

Because it deserves to be written down properly.

Bien (Kenya). Bien-Aimé Baraza, who has spent years making the kind of music that makes Kenyans feel seen, performing tonight on the biggest diplomatic stage his country has ever hosted.

Fally Ipupa (DR Congo). One of the continent's most commanding performers. When Fally walks onto a stage, the room changes. That is not opinion. That is physics - unfortunately didn't manage to show, sent apology to the fans.

Yemi Alade (Nigeria). Who has performed for audiences across Africa and Europe and never, not once, given a crowd reason to look at their phone.

Youssou N'Dour (Senegal). Who has been a cultural ambassador for Africa longer than this summit has existed. His presence tonight is not incidental. It is a statement.

Nandy (Tanzania), Jose Chameleone (Uganda), Savara (Kenya), Nomcebo (South Africa), Abigail Chaims (Tanzania), Coster Ojwang (Kenya).

This is East Africa, Southern Africa, West Africa, and Central Africa on one stage, on one night, in Nairobi.

That is the brief. That is what was executed.

Planning a conference in East Africa and looking for the right venue? We recently spent time in Uganda exploring some of the spaces shaping the future of corporate events in the region, and honestly, Kampala has some impressive conference venues right now.

These are the top 4 conference venues in Kampala we explored during our visit:

• Speke Resort Munyonyo -
Home to the iconic Great Rwenzori Convention Hall, Speke Resort Munyonyo remains one of East Africa’s most established conference destinations, built for large summits, exhibitions, government forums and international gatherings that require both scale and experience.

• Arirang Hotel -
Arirang introduces a refreshingly modern conferencing experience into Kampala, blending Korean-inspired hospitality with contemporary meeting spaces designed for executive discussions, leadership retreats, strategy sessions and premium private corporate gatherings.

• Four Points by Sheraton Kampala -
A modern business hotel in the heart of Kampala, Four Points by Sheraton combines refined conference facilities with a polished city atmosphere, making it ideal for executive meetings, networking events, NGO forums and professional conferences.

• Mestil Hotel & Residences
Set in a calm and elevated environment overlooking parts of Kampala, Méstil Hotel & Residences offers a premium setting for executive conferences, leadership retreats, gala dinners and high level corporate gatherings.

Today, conferences are no longer just about booking a hall and setting up screens. The venue itself has become part of the experience. As event planners operating across East Africa, this is exactly why we spend time on the ground exploring venues, understanding markets and studying how the region is evolving. Because creating impactful conferences starts with understanding the environments where those experiences happen.

East Africa is moving fast, and the events industry is moving with it.
