Paul Biya (age 92) has been declared the winner of the 12 October 2025 presidential election in Cameroon, with 53.66% of the vote according to the country’s Constitutional Council of Cameroon.
His main challenger, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, claims to have won, and his team reports about 35.19% for Tchiroma in the official result.
Biya has been President since 1982 (so over four decades in power) and this will be his 8th term.
Turnout in that election was ~57.7%.
The election has been accompanied by claims of irregularities, opposition protests, and at least four people killed in clashes in Douala.
