Godfrey Naibei is a house hold name to football fanatics not only in South Nyanza but also to the whole Kenya football fraternity and Somalia .But how well do you know him ? He is a look at his footballing journey .

Naibei has had stints in the National Super League with various teams and also a short stint in Somalia ,here in Kenya ,Goddy turned out for Shabana FC and was among the team that led Shabana back to the NSL in 2018 after defeating Mwatate United at Kasarani Stadium.

He featured for other teams including Gadiika FC of Somalia,Gusii FC and Transmara Sugar FC before joining Gusii FC as a trainer ,at Gusii FC Naibei credits the likes of Kassim Juniour and Marco Ongwae for installing in him coaching skills and patience.

Naibei later left for Zoo youth FC as the head coach but had to leave the Kisii based club only after one season something he says was a bitter decision ,since his mission at Zoo youth was been derailed with walk overs the team was dishing every match day .

He would later return to Mara Sugar FC but now as a assistant coach to the then Mara head coach Steve Biko ,things never clicked for Steve Biko in the National Super League and he was shown the door leaving Naibei as the interim head coach.

Goddy took the team at 19th position in the league and his first task was against Kibera Black Stars at Camp Toyoyo a match they drew (1-1) before getting his first win against Naivas FC also at camp Toyoyo

The soft spoken coach ,was in charge for 11 matches winning 5 ,drawing 4 and lossing only 2 matches helping his team move from 19th position to 12 th position.

When John Baraza was introduced as Mara Sugar FC new head coach he opted for Naibei as his first assistant to continue with Mara Sugar FC DNA .

"I'M happy to work with JB ,He is a humble guy whom I want to learn from him ,napenda kazi yake sana ."

Naibei dreams of getting Mara Sugar FC to the - Premier league as well as help young boys and girls rediscover there potential in soccer .
