Last week a being known as Button Monkey and myself released our first artistic project to the world. Under the name Too Much Skin we celebrated the life and mischief of Tony Wilson with our debut single An Ode To An Ode To Anthony H Wilson. If you aren't familiar with Tony Wilson you should Google him.
The single is a cover of Mike Garry and Joe Duddell's St Anthony: Ode To An Ode To Anthony H Wilson, released about 8 years ago as a love letter to the man, the city of Manchester and Manc dance music culture of the 70's and 80’s.
Tony and his contemporaries have been a great influence on my life, as I'm sure is the case for many of my lovely friends. Please take a little time to listen and let me know what you think. This project has been a year in the making and has meant a great deal to me as someone trying to achieve their dream of becoming an artist. I've never really known how or what to create and have always lacked the confidence to work it out, something Button Monkey has helped me to start to overcome, so a thank you needs to go to that cheeky primate.
