22.01.21. HAPPY FB ANNIVERSARY DÉCOR DAHLIA…10 YRS OF DETERMINATION & GROWTH.
Incoming notification:IT’S DÉCOR DAHLIA’S BIRTHDAY, and I thought Wow, 10 yrs already! I’m not big on New Year resolutions, but 10 yrs ago I conceded, made and fulfilled a resolution to defy my comfort zone by unabashedly and fearlessly pursuing the things that ignited my spirit; and I’ve never looked back with any regrets; resulting in, a Décor Dahlia FB page, though ineffectively utilized and replaced by IG.🤷🏽♀️
The journey hasn’t been an overnight success, it’s been filled with uncertainties, tears, sleepless nights, set-backs, and more, that have taught many life lessons; yet in the end always taking me to MY HAPPY PLACE. Many times, I’ve recalled Aunty Paulette’s tutelage(many sleepless nights) as she artfully shared her expertise and vast knowledge of the creative arts; thereafter entrusting me with responsibilities on her C.H.E.C. project and ultimately pushing me to step into my creative light.
I recall that 1st Christmas, I was sitting cross-legged on the floor humming happily to myself as I decorated the tree, when an older teller lady, haughtily remarked “but look at you too, leave your proper, good, nice job with the bank to come drag you “batty” pon floor say you a decorate Christmas tree”… to her I had fallen from grace, I wasn’t one of them anymore. I ignored the comment and kept humming. Then I heard the bearer, Mr.Dias’ response, “you stay there, you have to count other people money for 1 whole month to get the same salary she getting in 1 day.” I smiled and kept humming. Coincidentally, when I collected my cheque, she was instructed by the Teller Supv. to encash it, and as she counted my “1 day wage” she wasn’t smiling at all.
Enough sentimental history, I have stories for days; it’s not about the number of pushbacks, disapprovals, likes or even followers. I really want to humbly THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT, whether you have followed, liked or viewed our page, it is very much appreciated.
