What a year it’s been at Da Capo! 🎶

We’ve put together our End of Year Newsletter for 2025–26, looking back at just some of what our students, ensembles and wider musical community have been up to over the past year.

From concerts and competitions to visiting musicians, new ensembles, community performances, masterclasses and opportunities both in Jersey and further afield, there’s been rather a lot going on!

Most importantly, it’s a chance to celebrate the students, teachers, families, musicians and supporters who make Da Capo what it is.

With our new teachers joining us, along with some of our students heading off to university, we now have spaces available for Singing, Brass, Woodwind, Piano and Strings.

Lessons are available for all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to more experienced musicians, with opportunities to join our ensembles too.

Could your child discover a love of music this September?

Following the fantastic success of our first Saturday Strings programme, we're delighted to be opening applications for a brand new beginner group starting this September.

Over the past six months we've watched children who had never picked up a string instrument before grow in confidence, make new friends from schools across the Island and perform together as a real ensemble.

Now it's time to welcome our next group.

🎻 No previous musical experience needed

Children will enjoy:

🎶 Learning the violin, viola or cello
🎵 Fun musicianship games and activities
🤝 Making friends through music
🎼 Playing together in an orchestra from the very beginning
🌟 Developing confidence, teamwork and creativity

Our current Saturday Strings musicians will continue building on the fantastic progress they've made, while our new September intake will begin their own musical journey together from scratch.

What an amazing first six months! 🎻

When we launched Saturday Strings back in February, we had one simple aim: to give children the opportunity to discover the joy of making music together.

Thanks to funding from the Jersey Community Foundation, we were able to offer this project free to families and provide instruments for the children to use.

Over the past six months our first cohort have:

learnt violin, viola and cello
developed musicianship skills
performed together as an ensemble
made new friends from different schools
grown in confidence every single week

Watching complete beginners become young musicians has been incredibly rewarding, and we couldn't be prouder of everything they have achieved.

A huge thank you to our wonderful tutors, families, Jersey Community Foundation, and everyone who has supported the project.

And this is only the beginning…

Our original cohort will continue in September, and we’ll also be welcoming a brand new beginner intake.

What are Flutasia up to this morning?!

🎶 **We are delighted to welcome Stephanie Jennifer Poropat to the Da Capo team!** 🎶

Stephanie will be joining us from July, bringing with her a wealth of experience as a voice teacher, music educator and vocal health specialist.

She has taught at University of Bolton: Shockout, Leeds Junior Conservatoire and in a wide range of specialist music and performing arts settings, working with students from young beginners through to GCSE, A-Level, conservatoire and university-level performers.

Stephanie’s qualifications include a Master of Music in Performance and an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Opera Voice from the Royal Northern College of Music, as well as a Master of Teaching in Secondary Music. She also has specialist Kodály training, which she uses to support musicianship, aural skills, sight-singing, part-singing and theory through practical music-making.

**Summer lessons available from Wednesday 22nd July**
Stephanie will be offering lessons at Da Capo on **Wednesdays and Thursdays** over the summer.

We are also now taking bookings and expressions of interest for **regular Autumn Term lessons from September**.

Lessons can include:

🎤 Singing – Musical Theatre, Pop, Rock, Jazz and Classical
🎭 Audition and Acting Through Song preparation
🎶 Musicianship through Kodály singing
👂 Aural skills, sight-singing and theory support
🎼 Exam and school music support, including ABRSM, Trinity, Rockschool, GCSE and A-Level preparation

Although Stephanie is joining us as a specialist voice teacher, her musicianship, aural, theory and audition preparation sessions are open to **instrumentalists as well as singers**.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence, strengthen their musicianship and work with an outstanding new member of the Da Capo team.
