Five years ago, when I received my first nomination, I did not know what to say. The thought that someone considered my work worthy of a try filled me with joy ( thanks one more time, I miss you!). That time, the stars aligned and even today I am not entirely sure about what happened and how the final award eventually made its way to my hands in Copenhagen. A mind blowing experience.

This year another nomination arrived, and yet the feeling is the same. I am just truly happy. It is a sign that I am still working in the right direction and that the hunger is still there.

Out there incredible photographers, whose work I genuinely admire, are showing their talent to the world. The competition is tough but that’s what we need to improve every day.

I feel lucky and honored to be part of that pack.

There’s something magnetic about black and white.
It strips the world down to its pulse. No distractions, no noise. Just light carving its path across a scene and shadows quietly answering back.

I always loved black and white photography, but as I always say, it’s the people in front of me that makes the real magic and transform the image into the emotion.

INTIMACY.

Being able to transfer the intimacy of two people into an image is a great responsibility, and taking on a new challenge by stepping out of my comfort zone was certainly stimulating.

Arriving before dawn and walking on its shores waiting for the sun to illuminate the peaks around the lake is a spectacle that deserves any wake-up call.
