Ferragosto is one of Italy’s most beloved summer celebrations, rooted in the ancient Roman tradition of Feriae Augusti , a time dedicated to rest, celebration, and enjoying the abundance of summer.

Today, Ferragosto is all about being together: long lunches, endless food, family, friends, the sea, and those slow summer days that seem to last forever.

And in Calabria, it tastes even more special. ❤️

Here, Ferragosto is deeply connected to the land and the Sea, tables filled with local ingredients, homemade dishes, fresh seafood, grilled meats, ripe tomatoes, fragrant herbs, and recipes passed down through generations.

It’s not just a celebration. It’s a feeling.
The taste of summer, the warmth of family, the sound of the sea, and the simple joy of sharing a table.

We're proud to see Calabria Food Fest featured in Forbes, in a story by Indrabati Lahiri on how our region is turning its gastronomic heritage into real economic opportunity.

The piece looks at how Calabria is answering rural depopulation and decline the slow way — backing small-scale producers, protecting heirloom crops and native breeds, and inviting travelers to slow down, stay longer, and connect with the people behind the food.

When someone truly gets it, you feel it in every line. 🤍
just published one of the most beautiful pieces written about our corner of Calabria, and it captures exactly what Calabria Food Fest has always been about.
Not resorts. Not bucket lists. The Ionian coast as it really is: the Gulf of Squillace, the white sand of Soverato, and hilltop villages like Montauro, barely 600 residents, where a visitor is still an event, where nonna still rolls fileja by hand, and where heritage isn’t kept behind glass but stitched, cooked and celebrated every single day.
Everything here is connected: our roots, our cultural heritage, our food, our landscapes, but above all, our people. That’s the whole philosophy. Food as the gateway. The people as the destination. It’s why we do what we do every June, and why we were so proud to see the festival featured throughout this piece.

The producers, the makers, the local partners who stood beside us this week. Every glass poured, every plate set, every door held open carried a name from this land.

They came for the food. They stayed for everything around it — the hands that made it, the hills that grew it, the language that needed no translation once the wine was poured.

This is what set out to build. Bridges, not brochures. And here they are, crossed.
