A beautiful venue is only the beginning

When one of my couples is considering a venue I haven’t personally worked at before, I want to see it for myself before they commit.

Not because I need to see whether it’s beautiful as let's be honest, you can see that in the photos.

I need to know whether it works.

How will your guests arrive?
How do the spaces flow from one part of the celebration to the next?
Where will suppliers access the venue?
What are the timings and restrictions?
Is there a solid Plan B?
And are there any little logistical surprises that you won’t discover until it’s too late?

For this 2027 wedding, that meant a trip over to Ischia twice before committing, one as an inital visit and the 2nd to solify new relationships and see everything in 360 degrees.

Its not about only choosing a beautiful, it’s about asking the right questions before you sign the contract, so you can fall in love with your venue knowing that someone has already looked beyond the view.

That’s the part of wedding planning you don’t always see on Instagram. 🤍

Nearly 300 guests. Three days of celebrations. A private buyout of Borgo Egnazia. And just three months to bring it all together.

This wedding was Epic!

But a few days ago, Alisha sent me a message that reminded me why, even after the biggest celebrations, it’s often the relationships that stay with me most.

“I was telling someone it feels so strange not to talk to Cheryl every day. For the longest time my day started with a ‘Hi Cheryl’ text.”

Planning a destination wedding of this scale means becoming part of your couple’s everyday life. There are hundreds of decisions, countless conversations and, in this case, a LOT to make happen in a very short space of time!

By the time the wedding arrives, we know each other incredibly well. And when it’s all over, that silence feels a little strange for me too.

I’m incredibly proud of what we created at Borgo Egnazia, nearly 300 international guests and three unforgettable days of celebrations.

But I’m equally proud that amongst all of that, my couple never felt like just another wedding.

Because however big the celebration, my role is still the same: to be there, to guide you, and to make sure you never feel alone while planning it. 🤍

There is something incredibly special about taking a moment on your wedding day to put your feelings into words.

Whether you choose to read your vows privately, share them during your ceremony, or simply exchange handwritten letters, make time to tell your new husband or wife what led you to this moment.

The big milestones, the quiet moments, the challenges you've overcome, and all the little reasons you kept choosing each other.

There’s something so special about the start of a wedding weekend.

No timelines yet. No formalities. Just a table set beneath the lemon trees, glasses clinking, stories being shared, and guests meeting for the very first time.

Welcome moments always remind me that a destination wedding is about so much more than one day. It’s about creating a few unforgettable days together in Italy. 🍋✨🇮🇹

One of the things my couples hire me for isn't just planning a wedding in Italy. It's seeing possibilities they never knew existed.

When I first visited Borgo Egnazia, I walked through this courtyard and immediately knew we had to use it somehow. It wasn't the obvious choice, but I could see what it could become.

With six events over three days, every location needed its own identity. For their Christian ceremony, I wanted something intimate, elegant, and completely different from the grand Hindu wedding ceremony the next day.

The compact nature of this courtyard created exactly the atmosphere we were looking for,warm, personal, and focused entirely on the couple and their vows.

Sometimes my role is to look beyond how a space is usually used and imagine how it could be transformed. That's often where the magic happens.

The best wedding designs don't always come from adding more. They come from seeing what's already there and using it in a way nobody else has considered.

People often see the pretty dress, the beautiful venues and the finished wedding photos.

What they don't see are the 20,000 steps, the endless WhatsApp messages, carrying emergency kits, moving chairs, chasing suppliers, fixing timelines, answering questions and somehow surviving on very little food and a lot of adrenaline.

Wedding days are long.
They're hot.
They're exhausting.

But there is something incredibly special about watching months (sometimes years) of planning come to life and seeing a couple completely immersed in one of the happiest days of their lives.

28-degree heat (and +)
Sore feet.

And honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. ❤️

After 13 years, 400+ weddings and countless WhatsApp groups, I still get excited about every single wedding that I do.

✨ I'm Cheryl, a British wedding planner who swapped the UK for Italy 19 years ago and never looked back.

✨ I've planned over 400 weddings across Italy, but I still get excited for every single one.

✨ Sorrento is home, but I now plan weddings throughout Italy, including the Amalfi Coast, Tuscany, Puglia, Rome and Sicily.

✨ I believe your wedding should feel like the best week of your life, not just the best day.

✨ My favourite part of wedding planning isn't the flowers or the tablescapes (although I love those too!) it's getting to know my couples and helping them create memories with the people they love most.

✨ I speak both English and Italian, which means I spend most of my days switching between supplier calls, venue visits, guest emails and wedding dreams.

✨ I am obsessed with guest experience. If your guests leave saying, "That was the best wedding we've ever been to," then I've done my job.

✨ You'll often find me driving around Italy, venue scouting, tasting menus, meeting suppliers, or convincing couples that yes, they really do need the live food station!

✨ I still pinch myself that this is my job.
