Country Resort & charm agritourism surrounded by 550 hectares of uncontaminated nature, has a long and unique story. Its name comes from the Latin term Mons Lucii or Monte Luci, which means Mountain of light. In the VI century resort was a castle set in a strategic position, at 500 meters above sea level, it was on a hill at the center of a triangle formed by the Tuscan cities of Arezzo, Siena and Florence.
Despite its destruction in the XIII century, during the war between Florence and Arezzo, nowadays we can still see the ruins of the castle, of St. Thomas chapel, of the walls and surrounding houses. During the centuries, many important Tuscan families, both eminent and clerical, bought the property. The most famous were the bishop Guido Tarlati (1300), the Serristori family (1500), the Mannozzi family (1600), Domenico di Pier Francesco (1700), the Dini and the Strozzi families (1800) and the Counts of Gherardesca (1900).
The estate is formed by:
La Villa (map n° 2), the hunting estate of the Countess of Gherardes, with two big sitting rooms with two ancient fireplaces, a billiard room, a bridge room and a TV room, all decorated with precious and antique furniture, Persian and Chinese ancient carpets, old paintings and pictures. The veranda overlooks a breath-taking view on the valley and the vineyard, free for all the guests. On the first floor there are 8 superior rooms, with private bathrooms, TV and telephone, a duplex suite with two bedrooms on the second level, a sitting room and a sitting room/bedroom suite on the first level (map n° 2);
Il Casal di Sopra (map n° 7) with 7 double rooms, all with private bathrooms, common sitting rooms and two apartments: one for 4 people, with two bedrooms, one kitchen, one bathroom and one little sitting room, one from 4 to 6 people with two bedrooms, one room on a gallery, two private bathrooms, one sitting room with fireplace and kitchen;
Il Casal di Sotto (map n° 8) with 7 double rooms, all with private bathrooms, common living rooms and a suite with sitting room and a small bedroom;
La casa Guardia (map n°6) with 2 suites with private bathroom and sitting room (one of the suites has the fireplace);
Il Pesco with 2 deluxe suites on two floors: the low ground with the sitting room and the first floor with bedroom and bathroom.
Above Antico Frantoio (the ancient oil mill) and the reception, placed in the wine bar, there is another apartment with two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and sitting room.
farm and estate covers a land of 120 hectares with woods, grazings, olive trees groves and vineyards. Near the farm there is a 2 hectares roost where we breed Valdarno chickens, layers chickens, wild ducks, ganders, ducks and gooses. All the vegetables are grown in our seasonal vegetable garden.
DOCG CHIANTI
The 35-years-old vineyard is divided into Sangiovese (70%), Canaiolo (10%), Trebbiano (10%) and Malvasia (10%) production. The wine has the quality assurance DOCG. The wine production is about 10,000 bottles per year.
Country Resort & charming farmhouse is surrounded by a magic atmosphere: the green fields and trees, the wide valleys with ancient villages, the clear blue sky and the wonderful sunsets are the perfect combination for relaxing our body and mind. 550 hectares of vegetation, more than 4,000 olive trees, 8 hectares of vineyards, 200 walnuts, paths in the wood, a lake, brooms and rosa canina flowers.
The estate is surrounded by English and Italian roses, hydrangeas, jasmines, lavenders, tulips, hyacinthuses, narcissuses, ivies, solanums, rosemaries and sage.
people can taste the traditional Tuscan dishes created with our farms's products: from fresh pasta to bread, from organic olive oil to Chianti DOCG, from vegetables to fruits and the famous Chianina steak. From our specialities, the game coming from our game preserve: roe deers, pheasants and the tasty boar meat. Other local products our guests will find will be fagioli zolfini from Pratomagno (a Tuscan bean), the Cinta Senese cured meats and the Chianina del Valdarno steak, all served with a bottle of wine from our cellars.
Our open-air swimming pool is equipped with beach chairs so our guests can relax themselves and enjoy the beautiful panoramic view.
During summer, our guests can enjoy the bar service at the poolside and their lunch or drinks under the pergola.
Thanks to our quad bike tours and planned guided day trips, our guests can discover the most amazing and distinctive Tuscan spots.
In our riding stables, horses lovers can take a horse riding alone or with a group, or learn at our riding school. Moreover, it's available the horse kennels service.
Our cooking classes take place in the amazing sixteenth-century kitchen of Villa Centrale, with an ancient big stone fireplace and an original wood oven used to prepare bread, pizza and sweets.
Paintball is one of the most exciting and fascinating sports. In the Asd Paintballs Arezzo woody court our guests can try this adventurous team play for several hours.
Airsoft is a playful team game based on the simulation of military tactics. We can plan competitions on our estate – by request.
The 555 hectares of the estate are perfect for trekking lovers. Guests can choose among amazing woods, a beautiful nature, the lake, riding stables, game preserve, the “Buca” little waterfalls, the vineyards, the olive groves, walnut woods, lands, groves...
Our guests can research truffles in the woods only together with a truffle expert and his dog. The service is available by request.
Carp fishing is a special game fishing where fishermen catch carps and other big Cyprinidaes with the same food habits. Our guests can try this technique at our lake “Quercetello” (little oak), because of the oak woods, in the heart of Riserva Faunistico Venatoria, game and fishing preserve, surrounded by three hills in the heart of nature. With a wide range of cyprinidaes, this lake is perfect for carp fishing and trying spinnerbait. We do no rent fishing rods.
Recently it has been created a beauty farm with experienced staff. Here our guests can try different techniques, massages and beauty treatments to relax their body and mind.
